We want to go with a new company for our mortgage for when we buy a home. We're currently w/ Citibank, but they were a big mess while we bought our coop.
For those ladies w/ a mortgage - who do you have? Who do you recommend?
I've looked into Bank of America so far.
TIA!

I use Wells Fargo and have nothing but good things to say! Everything has been so easy.

continental has the BEST reviews and we are so disappointed we didnt go with them. We wound up going with Bank of america..... and we weren't impressed AT ALL!!!!! They took too long missed lots of deadlines and it was nothing but aggravation. We thought it would make our life easier if we went with them since all our banking is done there.... but i would not reccomend them. (unless of course if they give you the best rate LOL)

Ugh, Bank of America sounds like our experience w/ Citibank. They literally ******.
I'll look into Continental.
Is there such a thing of certain banks/companies paying closing costs?? I feel like I've heard this, but I might be hallucinating lol

I think you might've heard this from TD commercials, lol ... they are currently advertising this but I believe its just for a refinance. But hey it doesnt hurt to look into it!

Re: NWR: Who do you have your mortgage with?
I actually work in a law office where we represent the banks in purchase/refinance transactions.
M & T Bank & Merrill Lynch = sucks - they are just an overall mess and don't know what they are doing
TD Bank = fast and will get you closed in no time at all with little problems!
Wells Fargo = are very nit picky - may ask for quite a few things tog et you closed, but overall are easy to work with.
Bank of America = you will definately miss your deadline and they will probably promise you something that won't end up happening.
Citibank = they are actually closing loans rather quickly now and without too many problems, but if they already left a bad taste in your mouth, i don't know that i would go with them again.
Chase = can be a bit picky but will usually get you closed quickly and without problems, they are very customer service oriented.
A good point to keep in mind, (this only applies to homes & condo's, not coops) if you were to refinance after you close, if you go with a larger lender, like any of the ones I names above, you can do what is called a CEMA i n NY state, which will save you money on your mortgage taxes later on in the future, which honestly, could be thousands of dollars in savings. If you were to go with HSBC or Continental for example - they do not allow CEMA's and you would have to pay your mortgage taxes all over again.
Hope this helps!

Glad to hear the good reviews on TD Bank -- I'm very close to moving over to them for my personal banking, so I will def look into them.

Wells Fargo.
Be careful of BofA. The feds just sued on Friday all the major banks for their role in all the bad mortgages. Do lots of research!

We have Wells Fargo and they have been great!! We got the best rate from them and they have an office on Austin Street. We dealt with Malek Reznig from that office and he did a really good job with keeping us organized and pushing the process along.

Coldwell Banker Home Loans!
I worked with Matthew Kiss and Kathy Diedel and they were awesome!
