I am not sure what to do. My car was involved in a hit and run. Someone hit my car and did some damage to the bumper and the front light. They left a note but with a fake number. I am waiting for the police to come and make a report. My question is should I get it fixed through my insurance or pay for it out of pocket? I really don't want my insurance to go up but money is also a little tight right now. What would you ladies do?
Thanks for the help!!

I'm fairly certain it takes several accidents to make the insurance go up. I would definitely process your property damage through no-fault....you'll be responsible for your deductible only. Which insurance company do you have?

Re: NWR: will my insurance go up?
My car was ripped apart by a truck where it was legally parked two years ago and I didn't even know about it until some good police work found that it had been towed earlier in the day. I did all the repairs through my insurance company and my rates did not go up. I have Geico, though.
You have insurance for a reason. The repairs are going to be so much more out of pocket -- I would go through your insurance company. Plus if anything goes wrong with the repair, the insurance company will keep paying until it's fixed properly. (That happened to me too)

I can speak a little about this kind of thing... I work in the insurance industry.
The car was parked and unoccupied. So, you as the driver did nothing to cause the accident.
It depends on how much the damage is estimated at...so many different factors go into making up your rate. (age, martial status, job, previous tickets, previous accidents, how long you've had your license, how long you've been with your insurance company etc.)
Reporting the accident is important... and if you give your insurance company the name and number off the paper they left that will help, as someone else admits to hitting your car.
Long story short... they probably won't go up, but if they do you'll find when you get married they'll go back down
