NWR: Would you attend?

NWR: Would you attend?

One of FH's cousins had a baby the beginning of May. Because his wife is Jewish they didn't have a baby shower and are apparently having a 'meet the baby party' at their house this weekend.
FH and I knew nothing about it, because FH's Aunt only sent an email to FIL's saying they were invited and mentioning how FSIL was invited but they would rather she didn't bring her kids. FH and I were never mentioned in the initial email. So FFIL emailed FH's aunt back (without my and FH's knowledge) and asked about FH and I and she said we could come. I don't want to go because I feel like FH and I weren't initially thought of to be invited. FH's aunt has both mine and FH's email addys and has used them numerous times before. She also has our snail mail addy because we just sent out our engagement invites.
This is the same part of FH's family that only wrote my first name (and spelled it wrong) on a wedding invitation. I spelled my whole name out correctly on the RSVP and then our thank you note for that wedding (which came after our e-party invites went out) was addressed the same way, only my first name (spelled incorrectly).
So would you attend something if this is how you were 'invited'?

I wouldnt go. Technically if your FFIL hadnt mentioned anything to them then you prob wouldn't have been invited....I wouldn't bother going.

That's what I think. I don't want to go, but FH is on the fence about it.

I don't think I'd go - but I'm a little sensitive when it comes to stuff like this so that might be the wrong decision. But I'd be a bit offended.

I don't think I would go either. I would feel like they really didn't want me there in the first place.

I would NOT go!
I believe in formal invitations. Unless the party is totally casual.

Hmm..

Are you sure it was a 'formal' invite kind of party in the first place? It seems like maybe she might of invited people by email? Sometimes you have seperate emailing address books and maybe she thought she sent it to everyone, but clicked on the wrong one or something? I'm not trying to make excuses for her but I know a lot of times my family invites everyone sort of by word of mouth, maybe she expected you and FH to find out through other family members, or even thought that she DID send you the invite email? I would just find out the details before you get offended..but if you think she purposely didn't invite you at first, then I def. wouldn't go either...

If everyone else got an email invite I would expect to as well. Not just like oh yeah, she can come.

It wasn't a formal invite thing, the invites were sent through email. She didn't send one directly to FSIL (just invited her through FIL's) and she has her email addy as well. So I would think if we were invited she would have mentioned us in her email to FIL's. She also didn't say she thought she sent us one when FFIL asked her if we were invited. FH said his dad was kind of annoyed that we weren't directly invited either.
Oh and the email inviting FIL's and FSIL was not like a group email, it was an email directly to FIL's.

Doesn't matter to me if it was a formal invite or email... it would have to be specifically addressed to me. Its not like she couldn't get your email address!
