NWR: WW/Jenny Craig or LA Weightloss?

After losing 15 lbs in the summer for my eparty, I proceeded to gain that back & more & am now in serious mode as my wedding is a little over 6 months away!!!!!

As of Jan. 2 I am going on major diet....I wanted to know pro's/cons of Jenny Craig/WW & LA Weightloss. I'm familiar w/ WW & tried it successfully, but have heard some great things about the others as well. Comments?

Thanks!

I remember one of the women from my WW meeting telling me that she'd tried Jenny Craig and had major health problems from it - apparently the food they make you eat isn't 100% nutritious, according to her story. I don't really remember other details, sorry.

I haven't tried LA Weightloss, but I remember hearing that it was expensive?

I LOVED WW. Wish I could get myself back on track for it!

I did WW a couple of years ago in my office. I lost about 40 lbs and I haven't gained it back (ok, maybe 2 lbs or so).

I think the major pros are it teaches you how to eat and change your lifestyle and it's easy, you can eat what you want, in moderation. It's just the question of sticking to it, they came to my office so I had coworkers doing it with me and my family and roommate were doing it at the same time so we were all in the same boat.

I'm a WW groupie. Never tried the others, but I would imagine they are more expensive.

I highly reccomend WW if you are doing it for a long term fix, the teach you how to eat.

Re: NWR: WW/Jenny Craig or LA Weightloss?

My MIL went on Jenny Craig and had a great success with it. I have to say that she has some new health problems and I don't know if it's from Jenny Craig, but she's anemic now and is always cold. Her doc told her to eat more, but she doesn't want to. SHe's afraid of gaining the weight.

I just think that any pre-packaged food you eat for an extended period of time cannot be good for you. I'm on WW now and even through the holidays and going over my points I managed to lose. (I'm in shock)

The one thing that I have done is kicked up my exersize routine. I talked to my doc about it and he said that the way to take it off and lose inches is exersize. I'm in no way an athelete and I hate the gym but this 1-2 punch can't be beat. I even have more energy.

So, to answer your question, if any diet involves eating pre-packaged foods long term, run-don't walk. There are tons of preservatives in them. I eat the WW smart ones only about 2x a week.

LA Weightloss is horrible and I wouldn't recommend it. There is a thread on here about it if you do a search (it was sometime last Winter?)

I had a horrible expereince...they made me feel so horrible and practice false advertising. They make it sound like its so much cheaper than WW but its not...every week you are told that you must buy XYZ to be succcessful in your weightloss. I actually got a refund from that one I went to because it was so horrible.

I love WW....I need to go back on it this week but its something that you can work into your everyday life and every food has a points system. I have actually heard from a nurtrionist that WW is one of the best 'diets' out there

Weight Watchers ROCKS! It's the healthiest plan out there... the only way to keep weight off permanently is to change your lifestyle and WW is the only one who gets that. I love the diets that say you can eat a bacon cheeseburger but an apple has too much sugar... I know lots of overweight people - none of them got that way eating apples!

WW is also now promoting exercise. All you have to do is eat within your points and exercise. It amazed me that I didn't have much 'weight' to lose only about 10 lbs - but my clothes started feeling so much more comfortable within 2 weeks.

PS. FH followed the points with me and he lost 28 lbs without ever going to a meeting. His doc is going to start to wean him off his blood pressure and cholesterol meds b/c his numbers were so good! I even knew a prego woman who stayed on WW during her pregnancy - she needed a doctor's note and had to increase her points per day, but at the end she wasn't stuck with 'eating for 2' weight when the baby was born - and he was a very healthy baby boy. WW is the best!!!!!!!

LA weight loss is the worst! You are starving all the time and all the counselors care about is selling their stupid snack bars because they work on commission! The bars are loaded with sugar and carbs so when you eat regular food, your choices are extremely limited (I was eating plain tuna on melba toasts for lunch). I asked a counselor if I could substitute real food for the bars because I heard that they do it for diabetics and she told me the diet wouldn't work if I did so. I demanded a refund! It is very $$$ and not at all worth it! Go for WW. It's the best and healthiest one of all! Plus you can eat whatever you want as long as you stay within your daily points!

Good Luck!

I've heard raves about WW forever...it really seems to be the healthiest way to go.

Definitely Weight Watchers is the way to go.
My FH and I have lost a total of 100 lbs so far, since July.
I did LA Weight Scam, as my FH like to call it. I lost about 20 lbs and it was VERY expensive. I have a lot of health complications from it. I would stay clear from Weight Scam.
Try WW!!
Good luck.

I am a HUGE fan of WW. (just got home from my meeting a little while ago!) I've been on it a year now....i lost 25 pounds and have kept it off since July. It's not a diet. It's a healthier way of living. Go with WW!!!
