I had my hair a medium brown with a few caramel/blond highlights, but my hair turned a really orangey color after a while so I decided that I wanted to go darker all over medium brown. The color my stylist suggested was a dark brown, it actually was darker then I was looking for but she talked me into it. My hair is now way too dark for my liking and looks black. My natural hair color is dark brown but this seems even darker and I told her I didn't want my natural shade back. I still haven't gotten used to the color. I've been using prell to strip out the color nightly but it's still too dark and this is a permanent color. She did tell me the color will fade though eventually. I did this once before, only used a home dye where my hair turned out jet black. I think it was only semi-permanent though, and she did a power wash she called it. She put stuff on top of my hair, let it sit, then rinsed it out. It took the color out of my hair then she just dyed it over the brown color I wanted and it looked great. Can you she do this with a permanet color? I made an appt for tomorrow. Not sure if I should go or just let it fade out and do something different at my next visit in 2 months. It's only been a week since she put the color in. I'm hoping she isn't going to charge me. She didn't last time when she needed to put more toner on my highlights.

let it fade, do you know what brand product she used? my mothers a hair dresser and I tend to 'take over' when she does colors... some products are a little 'thicker' then others, meaning they'll last a bit longer.
what I always do is shampoo and condition A LOT.

No, I'm assuming maybe Redken Shades? I don't know though. Color doesn't seem to last in my hair though and it always eventually ends up fading to an orangy shade. My entire head was lightened like a year ago so maybe that's why the color never holds, or holds too much in this case.

it depends on what under shade she used. My natural hair color is also dark, dark brown (almost black) and I have been dyeing my hair a light brown for the past 5 years. Because my under shade is blue - my hair dresser used red colors to lighten the shade to a light brown/dark blonde. My hair had a nice auburn shade to it...
If the hair is turning brassy/orange, it means several things - # 1, you need to deep condition more, and/or # 2 - the under color being used is too strong. I'd suggest coloring it in stages and then using special shampoo/conditioner (Matrix and Biolage are the best) to keep the color strong and shiny.

hold too much. if your hair was 'stripped' for the highlights it'll absorb the color a lot more.. i'd wait it out. don't damage your hair just because the color is dark. i actually haven't colored or permed my hair in over a year and a half and its still growing out.

If you're not happy she shouldn't charge you. I wouldn't let her strip the color. Its not worth it. There are some treatments to lighten up color some salons use. Otherwise you can throw some very small weaved high lights in to ighten it up a bit. That would be my choice.

I know lol. I'm just going to leave the dark color and let it fade then when I go back in Feb have her do it a different color.
