Hi...I had this too and had surgery a year and a half ago.....best thing I have ever done! But the main reason for my surgery was I had severe and chronic sinusitis! I found this out b/c I was getting awful, debilitating migraines - they would completely put me out of commission. I was on a flight and seriously had so much pain in my head - I thought I was dying of a brain aneurism or something...I had never felt such pain in my life. Came home - saw several diff. doctors - they x-rayed then catscanned my head....saw that my sinus canals were completely blocked...which is what sinusitis is. So this was causing the headaches b/c basically no air could travel up to my head really - causing all that pressure up there. So I had the surgery...was out of work for 2 weeks which I loved! (Only needed one week off but I milked it for 2).

Sinus surgery is really not as bad as people say it is. My mom had it a year before me so I knew what to expect! The only bad part about it is going in a week (I think) later to have the packing removed...it's a little uncomfortable.

But with the microscopic tools they use nowadays...it is so uninvasive. I had no black and blue's at all. My friend came to visit me the next day and she said she would not have know I just had surgery just from looking at me - no swelling...no nothing.

I LOVED my ENT! He is the best! I know others who used other doctors and they bruised on the face a little...my doc doesn't bruise you! FM me if you'd like his info - he's in RVC! He is the best!

I really recommend it....you'll still get colds but nothing like the sinus infections you're probably used to.

OMG! When I saw this post I was like, 'Yeah me', then I read KandE917's response and it was like I was reading my own thoughts! I had seen 1 ENT a few years ago, at my neurologist's suggestion b/c I was getting insane and frequent headaches and I get chronic sinus infections.

The ENT said, after Catscan, I had a severly deviated septum, which explains why I get clogged ont he right about 95% of the time. Also, there is a polup (sp?) behind my right cheeck bone, adding 'fuel to the fire' of my breathing difficulties on the right side.

The ENT didn't say anything about surgery, just kinda said 'Here's the situation, that's it'

So, KandE917, I am going to FM you for your ENT's info!

Thanks for this post!!!!!

My FI just had the surgery the beg of Jan b/c he could not breath, and couldn't ake it anymore. He was in pain for 2 days then he was fine. He said it was well worth it bc he can breath so much better.

And......he had no black eyes nothing so its not like its noticable for a few weeks..he had a bandage on for 2 days just to stop the bleeding.

I had the surgery 11 years ago and I can honestly say it has helped me SOOOO much!! The surgery and aftermath was NOT fun, but I have heard that technology has changed SO much that it's not even half as bad as it was 11 years ago. I used to get 5-6 sinus infections a year, now I get MAYBE 1 a year. I say go for it, you'll have less infections!!!
