NWR..Anyone suffer from Migraines??

Ive always known ive had them but they are occuring more frequently now(at least once a week).. and its becoming a problem. I get them at work.. I go practically blind at first and then the headache kicks in and i get completely sick to my stomache!!! all i wanna do is hide under my desk and wait for it to go away. Ive had EEGs, MRIs and C-scans done recently so nothing is physically wrong with my brain but i have NO IDEA WHERE THEY ARE COMING FROM NOW!! im thinking im going to have to ask for meds..Any reccomendations?? Im getting desperate here...

There is a nose spray that I have...I don't remember the name but because I nearly always throw up when I get migraines there was no point in giving me a pill. If you get sick to your stomach I'd definitely ask for a nose spray.

That being said, mine (when I get them) are so bad that nothing really helps. I realized that bright lights really trigger them (mostly sunlight and ambient light) so whenever I'm going out during the day I wear my sunglasses (even on cloudy days).

I had terrible migraines for a while and they put me on topamax for a few years but last July when they endocrinologist realized I was insulin resistant and my hormones were out of whack, he took me off topamax with my kicking and screaming but when my hormones regulated, my migraines stopped! Maybe see an endo who can run a full blood panel on you?

thats soo funny u said that because i was acutally going to ask about getting on topomax...but not for migrains but for my seizures...The medicine im on now makes me gain weight and i heard topomax suppresses your appetite... not to mention i think it also could be the meds im on now that are causing me to have headaches. I get blood work done ALL THE TIME..my levels seem to be normal..im also on BC so my hormones seem to be in check.

if you are having them that often now you are in a cycle and sometimes your Dr. need to give you something to get out of the cycle.

This happened to me...I had them almost everyday until I finally went to the ER and the Dr gave me a shot of Compazine (SP?) it is used to settle your stomach but in England they use it to treat headaches....let me tell you it worked....didnt have another one for over a year.

I also recently changed the med I take when I get them...I take Maxalt now. It is super expensive but works better than other things I take. Also if you are on BC....think about stopping it. the changes in the hormones can make them worse.

Imitrex is great! When I was younger I would get migraines several times a month complete with the auras(losing vision) as you describe -prior to getting the headache. At around age 18 I grew out of them, however, I found that I would get migraines with auras about 1x/month if I was on birth control. I stopped the BC pill and bam the migraines stopped too. My OBGYN actually recommended that I not take any hormonal BC because people who have auras associated with their migraines may be at greater risk of stroke.
