I told my doctor this morning that I wanted to switch to Yasmin. She said it was fine and wrote me a prescription and gave me a sample pack. I didn't look at them until I left and it is 'Yaz:'.......it does not say Yasmin anywhere. Does anyone know if Yaz is the same as Yasmin or something completely different? Thanks!

Re: NWR.........birth control question
I'm not sure but my GYN took me off Yasmin because of the diuretic and gave me Estrostep which is the same thing minus the diuretic. Just to let you know - I would inquire about that as well.

Yeah be careful with Yasmine. I had terrible side effects which I think were due to the diuretic. I'm not sure about the shortened name though, I have never seen it written that way and I was on it for about 2 years.

What were your side effects? Just curious because I'm on Yasmine.

My company does Berlex's search engine marketing, and no, Yaz is not the same as Yasmine... I think the main difference is that Yaz helps controm PMDD. If you need more info, please don't hesitate to ask... since we work with the company, we know a lot about the drug.

I had a lot of side effects that I didn't realize were related to the pill until I stopped taking it. My biggest complaint was nausea. I woke up every morning nauseous and got a stomch ache every time I ate. I hated going out to dinner because I always got sick. I also blacked out in the shower two times (after the second time I decided to off the pill and it hasn't happened since). I also was having some anxiety problems which was causing heart palpitations. I had no sex drive at all!! I lost a lot of weight when I went on it which I can't complain about but if I had known it had i diuretic in it then I would have understood it better. Also, the typical mood swings and crying (I am not a crier so it was way wierd to cry over nothing).
Please realize everyone reacts differently to different pills. I don't feel like I ever really want to go on another one again. I have been off for a year and I finally feel almost normal again. But if you are having any side effects try a different pill or go off it. I was miserable for 2 years on it and I regret not doing something sooner.

Wow... I have absolutely NO sex drive being on Yasmine. (kind of ironic that going on birth control takes away your sex drive... my FH is almost fed up. He's sees me take the pill, and is like 'What's the point? We never do anything anyway!'.) Now, I have gained a LOT of weight in the two years I've been on Yasmine, and I'm having a VERY hard time losing weight. I want to go off the pill and see if it makes a difference. I was just upset because I was under the impression that Yasmine helped you lose weight. Could it have been different for me?

Re: NWR.........birth control question
Yasmin is supposed to cause you to lose weight b/c of the diuretic. There have been no studies that prove BC makes a woman gain weight. As for the sex drive, I had zip on Yasmin! However, I still have zip when Im on any form of BC. How sad is that lol but I feel you and FI pains!

Re: NWR.........birth control question
I am not on Yasmin but I think I remember my friend telling me you had to be super careful about taking it at the same time everyday otherwise you could get pregnant. I know there are some BC pills that more time sensitive than others. Something to consider.
