NWR:Depressed about getting older!

Well with my bday one day away I find myself getting really depressed about getting older!!!
Remember when you were little and your mother would always tell you 'Time flies my dear, before you know it you'll be a wife and then a mother and then one day you wake up and you're 50 and you say where did time go!!!' And I would think, I'm never gonna be old, it's gonna take a reeeeally long time!!!' Well, time is going by quickly, I feel like I just started college back in 98 and now I'm turning 26, with a carreer, getting married, not going out to clubs anymore....WHERE did time go????? I feel like my life is passing by so quickly!
I used to ALWAYS make a HUGE deal about my bday, FH used to tease me and say 'you're b-day is not a National holiday' lolol This year I find myself so down, feeling like I have nothing to celebrate!!! Does anyone ever feel this way????
Or am I an oddball here???????lolol
XOXOXOXO

I feel the same way...(and my birthday is right around the corner 2) and I am a little bit older than you...when I was a little girl I used to say I can't wait until christmas vacation, summer vacation and my mom used to tell me when you are older time is going to flyyyyyyyyy by and boy is she right... but age is only a number....

Re: NWR:Depressed about getting older!

When I turned 25 I was REALLY bothered. I had this thing that I was closer to 30 than to 20

With that said..I am now in my early 30's and realize how much I hated my 20's. I was such an idiot in my 20's. I made bad decisions, worried about inconsequential things and not things that really mattered ect. So for me, I really, really love being in my 30's.

So fine I can't shed 5 lbs at the blink of an eye anymore and I can't party like a rock star like I used to but in return I am much more confident, calm and wiser Of course this applies to me only-I'm not saying all 20 somethings are they way I was.

Hope this helps you feel better.

BTW-It's your bday and your choice to celebrate it the way you want to!

For some reason, I had a really hard time when I turned 27. I'm not really sure why, but maybe it was because I realized I was (gasp!) almost 30. Well, I turned 33 last month and I can say that I am the happiest I've ever been. I have a great FH, a great job, a wonderful family. Sometimes it's hard to take it all in. Just remember, what you're feeling is totally normal. Happy Birthday!!!

don't even stress. we're still young, we're still hott and we are at our primes. we're getting married!!! think positively. and use your birthday to get extra wedding gifts!!!

trust me, i celebrate my birthday every year like it's my 'BIG' one. all my friends make fun of me. but that's how you keep it alive. keep celebrating like you do and no more debbie downer for you!

Its something to celebrate you lived to see one year older, you have a FH, a career and I'm sure many other great things going on in your life use your birthday to celebrate your yearly accomplishments and how you've matured....at least that's how I look at my b'day

I might be the odd ball here, but age really does not get to me. I just turned 31 and love were I am in my life. Career is set, getting married, friends and family are healthy, etc...

Don't get me wrong, I feel like my life is flashing before me sometimes, but I try to take a step back and look at the big picture.

I know exactly how you feel! As soon as I started working full time (5 years ago) the years just flew by! My birthday was a couple of weeks ago and I was so not into it. It ended up being a great birthday but I do know exactly how you feel. The years are going by so fast and it's scary.

I'm 26 too, and now I feel like I never go out, and i've turned into an old little biddy. I am happier just veging on the couch than going out having a drink with friends on a saturday night. Where did this come from??

I totally sympathize...it doesn't help with my little cousins look at me and go, you're 26?? you're OLLLLLLDDDDD...yeah...thanks...appreciate it...

I totally understand and feel exactly the same way. My bday is on the 30th and I'll be 26 also...and I'm basically hoping everyone will just forget about it. It stinks because this is the 1st year i feel this way

Re: NWR:Depressed about getting older!

I would give my right boob to be 26!!! I'm 37 now! My advice- never stop working out! I had such a rock hard body at 26 and then I stopped working out. Now, due to circumstances beyond my control, i'm a swollen mess! But I will tell you this.......My 30's have been the best years of my life. I can't see how my 40's will top it!

I turn 26 next week and dont like the sound of it either, I liked 25 better, but good things will happen while I am 26 (getting married ) so it shoudln't be too bad, but 27 thats a whole different story, LOL
