NWR:hey, are eggs considered meat or dairy?

do vegitarians eat eggs? I'm confused. I was looking at a cookbook for something to make for a dinner we have to go to and apparently, they consider eggs to be vegitarian... It comes from a chicken and its suppose to be a chicken, so isn't it meat?

I believe eggs are dairy and I know if you are vegan they don't.

vegans don't eat eggs bc it's an animal product.

vegetarians eat eggs bc they consider them non meat.

I consider them embryos so yuck! lol

My brother is a vegetarian and he'll eat eggs. I know vegans don't but they also don''t eat honey because bees made it

my answer comes from the jewish kashrut (kosher dietary) laws. eggs are neither. there are 3 types of food- dairy, meat, and parve (or neither) which if you keep kosher means you can eat parve foods with either dairy or meat (because you can't eat meat and dairy together). so things like bread, fruits, veggies, eggs or neither dairy nor meat.

Depends on the vegetarian. I'm a vegetarian with vegan tendencies, so I view them more on the meat side of things.

But most vegetarians eat them. I personally don't. I've tried but just can't do it.

theres many different kinds of non-meat eaters....
i was a vegetarian for 7 years and i ate eggs/dairy.

eggs are dairy, but vegans would not eat them since they come from animals.

Eggs are neither meat nor dairy.

Eggs, like dairy, are an animal byproduct, but dairy specifically refers to a milk or a product made from milk.

I think it's just a protein...
