Re: NWR:How do you clean your hardwood floors??
That's a good question....My whole apartment is wood floor...it's waxed(???). I have no idea how to clean it. I usually only dust mop it but I would like to mop it. I've read on websites though that say you shouldn't use any mop or use any products because it will damage the floor. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

swiffer wet jet makes a special solution for hard wood floors. I vacuum first and then use the swiffer

The company that I used to refinish my floors recommends Polycare
I use murphy's oil soap and water. There are probably tons of newer, better products out there now, but I stick with the stuff my mom used!

Orange Glow for hardwoods and they have a special mop for it. The mops like 15 and the stuff is amazing. We have most of our downstairs in the house hardwood and it works so GREAT!!!!!!!! You can get it at Walmart, etc.

I have a floor mate - I like it b/c there is a wood floor setting and Old English cleaner (and for the other floors there is a lysol cleaner I can use for the non-wood flooring) and it nice b/c it also vacuums the wettness up. For quick jobs I use Murphy's Oil soap.

Me too...when I actually get around to cleaning of course!! I use the dust broom or regular swiffer than use the wetjet!

Re: NWR:How do you clean your hardwood floors??
I was advised to regularly vacuum the floor and to use a damp mop with only water or oddly, club soda, on it, never any soap because it can leave a dull residue. Even Murphy's leaves a residue.

I was told to use Bona. You can get it at a floring store. It works great. When my house was built, the guy who did the floors strongly recommeded us use it. Hope this was helpful!

Re: NWR:How do you clean your hardwood floors??
be careful with what product you choose!
Mom bought the swiffer for hardwood floors, and it created this odd film on her floor. (Her floor is brand new, and a deep brown color... so any flim is OBVIOUS.) this was about 5 months ago, and the stupid film is really slow to wear off! It still looks blotchy.
If you don't know the floor manufacturer, be conservative and choose something VERY mild.... like the murphy's oil soap. Franky, it's best to just dust it with a dry mop.... but if there is ground in dirt, I'd try that first (after doing a test patch)

Vinegar and warm water works best (IMO). I'm not sure what should be used with wood floors that are waxed.
