Are LI elementary schools also under the hiring freeze for the 10-11 school year? How hard is it to get a position in a Catholic or private school?

Re: NWR..Long Island Teachers
Pretty sure my district is hiring elementary school teachers.
Catholic schools are difficult to get into. I tried two years ago and nothing.

Re: NWR..Long Island Teachers
A lot of districts are having budget issues. Many are actually letting people go...not hiring at all. It's been bad for years, and seems to be just getting worse! I'm not too sure about Catholic or private schools but from what I hear they are having the same problems. Low enrollments due to the economy. Wish I had better news for you. I feel your pain. I've been looking for a permanent job for years!

Do you happen to know how I go about applying at districts? Does each district have their own website?

Re: NWR..Long Island Teachers
Private or public..teaching jobs are very hard to get. Many public school are letting teachers go and the Catholic School system is no better. I have been a teacher in the Catholic School system on LI for 11 years and my school will be closed as of Sept. Good luck in your search, but be prepared that it wont be easy.
