Re: NWR:Mayor Bloomberg's Congestion Plan
ok at first i was VERY happy about it, something needs to be done because traffic is getting out of control. To get to work i either take the LIRR from my house or if i stay by FH's house i take the 'N' from ditmars but alot of times we drive to his companies office(which he doesnt really work out of) in LIC and i take the 7 train from there, anyways the traffic to get there is horrible bc we pass by the traffic getting on the 59th street bridge...but just in general traffic is bad.
THEN they mentioned how over crowded the trains will get now, meanwhile its bad enough. This will effect my commute more bc i dont drive into the city but i take the train. Now im worried about how bad the trains will get

I was against it too. The only reason I thought it was a good idea was helping the pollution problem. Also, with how expensive public transportation is becoming, 8 dollars to get into the city doesnt seem so expensive. If you drive in, you'll probably be there a few hours, travelling around the city. Jumping back and forth on the train would end up costing that much or even more. So it didnt make complete sense to me...I dunno. I drive to my job on 14th street everyday so its going to suck to have to pay to go to work. Luckily, parking on the street isnt hard there...

he works in a service van throughout manhattan, the depot is in the bronx & then he drives down into the city everywhere~obviously his company would have to pay the toll~but that's going to be a LOT and that may mean cuts and stuff, overall not good~

well companies will get plans and pay less since they are going back and forth a couple of times a day

All I can say is they have a similar law in London - and its amazing. virtually no traffic. So cab and bus rides are a lot shorter, easier to cross streets, etc.
Def tru about the trains though, they are already crowded enough as it is. Espeically with all the new building they are doing (i.e. LIC) they need another train line !!!

Re: NWR:Mayor Bloomberg's Congestion Plan
i really want them to do this... i have multiple opinons though...
* i really want safer breathing air, we as a nation have to get better at this.. and every small step counts
* at first everyone will bit ch and moan, but like everything else all new yorkers (i feel) get over it and move on the best as possible.
* i dont drive to school in the city, i rarely drive to my job
* however, the city has to find a better solution to congestion on other modes of transit:
**more express busses **more trains/ maybe more express trains **they can NOT increase transit costs ANYMORE, if they increase the cost for the bus or trains, what is the benefit to NOT driving? and virtually paying the SAME price?
i woudl love to see teh follow up and outcome once the ball gets rolling

Re: NWR:Mayor Bloomberg's Congestion Plan
i hope they DON'T copy everything London does!!!! London residents pay a tax just to have a television in their homes!!!!! If I have to pay a tax for that I'll be poooo'ed!
