NWR:need some help

Ok...you girls will probably think i'm stupid, and well thats fine :) but i have never been to a gynecologist, but thats because I didnt have insurance until now and FH is my first, and we started around february I think. I dont even know. But, I'm really scared of any kind of doctor even if theres nothing to worry about, so does anyone know of a good place to go to around the Bay Shore area? I'm a horrible person for not doing this sooner...but well I hope you understand its because I'm scared to even call and make an appointment and to just go...makes me nervous and the fact that I didnt have any insurance until now didn't help since I only work part-time and don't get paid enough. I hate my job haha.
Thanks girls...I really do appreciate it

You're not stupid Amanda, so STOP thinking that!

I have a wonderful OB-GYN, but she's located on 347 in Port Jeff Station. A little took North from Bayshore, but if you're interested, let me know and I'll send you her info!

Re: NWR:need some help

I go to a doctor in Staten Island, but just wanted to offer my 2 cents: it's really not terrible at all. The exam is much quicker than you'd think (usually 4 or 5 minutes, all told, or less if you're not due for a PAP smear), and it doesn't hurt. It's not at all uncomfortable - the doctor saw 10 patients before you that day, she'll see 10 more after you, it's all very routine. You'll be fine. I'd ten times rather go to my GYN than to my dentist!

Don't ever say that, you're not stupid!!!!! You had your reasons and it can be very scary going to any new doctor, let alone an OB/GYN.

I go to South Bay OB/GYN in West Islip. I like my doctor, but they have a whole team of doctors who work there so you can get a male or female if you prefer. FM me if you want their contact information.

I go to Dr. Schwartz in West Islip. She's awesome! The office is fantastic! She'll actually be delivering my niece or nephew in April too!
