Are all W-2s and 1099 supposed to be mailed by 1/31?
I worked as an indep contractor last year....never filled out a W-4. However I just received a 1099 in the mail...postmarked 3/21. Never paid tax on this money.....already did my taxes....pissed!

By law, they HAVE TO be out by 1/31.
I don't understand why you would have gotten something postmarked in March, unless it was for quarterly earnings for this year (2008) or something?

It was a new company and I have a feeling she didnt know what she was doing. She prob got her taxes done and realized she had to 1099 everyone....well alittle late sweetie!

Thats probably what happened....It happens ALOT in my office once we get people's books in. If you already included an estimate of what you made from the place on your return, then your okay.

you must have gotten paid off the books so you wouldnt have to worry about that money then
