Ok so I rent in a co-op development in Queens. There are several laundry rooms on he premises. We put our laundry in 2 of the washing machines and come back up to our place. We go back downstairs 35 minutes later and someone took our laundry out of the washing machine and into a basket so they could use the machines!!! I am livid right now, I probably wouldnt care except it was our socks and underwear. I'm definitely complaining to management but what else would you do???

Re: NWR:What would you do??
The same thing happens in my building, but the thing is we're limited to the machines here so i've been in the situation where we had someone take out our clothes and we've had it where we've taken out someone elses lol but its only b/c they leave their clothes in the machines for hourssssssssssssssssssssssss and like forget about them which prevents others from using the machines to get theirs done. Not because I enjoy touching other peoples clothes or anything lol

Honestly? Yeah, you are.
I make a point of being RIGHT on time to get my stuff out of the laundry machines in our building. Otherwise I expect someone to move our stuff.

Believe me I dont like it by any means and i hate doing it to others and I freak when others do it to me. I just understand why they do it b/c there was one point where the same clothes were taking up the 2 dryers for like almost 2 days..thats def not fair to anyone else. we only have 3 washers and 2 dryers for the building. its annoying lol..I freaked out at first too

I don't think you are over reacting at all. I've never seen that happen in my complex (actually I have stuff in the dryer as I type). But I've actually gone to do my laundry and all the machines have been taken. I just go back in a half hour and normally by then there is a machine open. Now that I've stated this...when I go to get my undies out of the dryer they are going to be in a basket!!!

Same here! Next time it happens I said I am going to leave on a note on the machine saying please dont touch my underwear or just to let them know others are waiting..lol. But then we decided to send out our laundry b/c getting a machine in the building on a weekend was a ridiculous wait bc some people would forget for hours.

I had to that once, but it was an emergency. I had to go to my then boyfriend's father's wake and the person left their laundry in the dryer for a while. I need to dry my clothes for the wake and it was the only nice clothes I had.
I wouldn't say it is ok to do it, but maybe you can feel better thinking about the fact that the person may have had an emergency.

Re: NWR:What would you do??
FH owns a co-op in Kew Gardens and he solved the problem by doing his laundry late at night (after 10)
He refuses to touch anyone's stuff --- but some people will leave it there for 4 or 5 hours. I would have stuck it in a bag and used the machine.

Yeah, this happens all the time when I was in college. Some people leave their clothes in there for hours and tie up the machine. But 35 mins is not long, they could have waited!

Ewww that is so gross! But someone else washes our laundry and that's gross too now that I thik about it... I would definatly complain. Esp. since you had it timed and when down when the wash was supposed to finish. How do you know at what point did that person remove your wash from the machine? Did it go through all the rinse cycles? eww, sorry that happened

When I was in college my roommate and i would sit down in the laundry room for the 30 so minutes it would take for the clothes to wash and then move our stuff into the dryer. I hated when people would touch my things. I know that its limited washers for everyone but still.
It doesn't bother me much if they move my clothes into my basket usually sitting right in front of the machine....but when they put the clothes somewhere else i HATE IT. Its gross.
Stuff like this is just what we have to put up with unfortunately when we share laundry facilities.

That's so annoying!!!!!! I think that's incredibly rude for someone to touch your things. That used to happen to me sometimes at college when I'd do my laundry.

Re: NWR:What would you do??
yea, it happened a lot in college because people would just forget they had clothes in the machine for hours and then there would be none to use. i don't think i've ever seen it happen when i lived in an apt. but, there were times that i'd go to put my clothes in and there were already clothes in the machine waiting to be taken out. i would never touch someone else's clothes....yea, it was just washed, but still.....so i'd just leave and try again later.

Re: NWR:What would you do??
that's pretty common actually. every apartment i've lived in - college or not - this has been what happens. usually people wait for a little bit after the machine ends, then if no one comes they either stick the wet clothes in a dryer or the dry ones in a basket. it keeps the line moving.
