Re: NWR...when your pregnant

pregnancy makes your homones SURGE all out of whack ( like when you have your period x 1000)

so i think thats what makes you sick. . . all that new stuff in your body!

ETA from webmd:

Although its cause is poorly understood, morning sickness has been linked to increasing estrogen levels, along with other hormone changes during early pregnancy.

this is dumb but can you only get morning sickness in the morning? lol

Re: NWR...when your pregnant

nope you can get it all day. . . i think people usually get it in the morning bc they have empty stomachs

i have never been pregnant but i have read ALL those 'what to expect while you are expecting' and 'pregnancy for dummies' books

lol i was very involved in my sister's pregnancy i was probably annoying. . .

You can get morning sickness any time of day or night. And it is horrific.

I think that aside from the whole hormone thing, morning sickness is God's way of giving you a LITTLE taste of the discomfort you are in for...

Don't worry about it - one of the lesser talked about side effects of pregnancy is the complete loss of 'give a sh*t'.

Puking in public? No big deal.
Leaking breast milk during a board meeting? OH WELL!
Having countless strangers poke around in your crotch while you are in labor? No sweat.

And the delivery room...forget that.....I think I would rather puke on the train than have 1 doctor and like 15 nurses in the room 'poking around down there'

I can tell you from experience-
Morning sickness is caused by the pregnancy hormone. As the level rises in the first few weeks you can get sick as your body adjusts to that hormone level. And it can happen any time of the day or night. It is just most frequent in the morning.

Absolutely factual... except you can continue to get it well past the first few weeks. I had mine well into my 2nd trimester with my 2nd son!

Re: NWR...when your pregnant

this is a funny pregnancy story:

my sister was pregnant with her first baby and her OB/GYN was in Manhattan, so being a good little sister i decide that I am going to go with her. . .

well it was August . . . and she is 9 months pregnant ( my niece was born the next day actually!) and i am on one of those horrible really long elevators out of the subway and I PASS OUT and my sister has to drag/carry me out of the subway into the fresh air

good thing i was there to take care of her!!!

her doctor was nice enough to check me out after he was done with her LOL

Re: NWR...when your pregnant

hi ladies - this caught my eye... I am 9 wks pregnant and currently still on my hm in thailand and killing some time on the internet while DH gets a massage....

Why aren't I getting a massage too? Well, after about 5 massages here, i realized it makes me puke. As a matter of fact - everything from water to fruit to bread to rice has been making me puke.

now, i know everyone is affected differently, but i have been puking at LEAST 3 times a day (which is a BLESSED day) up to 15 - yes - 15 times a day. On the tour bus in hundreds of plastic bags our tour guide wisely brought on the trip for garbage. with my fellow kind travelers who are all older and have kids so they have been there. In every bathroom at every temple, restaraunt, hotel - you name it. sometimes chunks of food that I nearly choked on. Sometimes liquid, sometimes, when my stomach has been retching so much on an empty stomach, blood and bile.

NOTHING works - none of those remedies in books, magazines, nothing....

It has been hell = and needless to say, a far from romantic HM. The only relief is knowing this is a strong pregnancy - but morning sickness is HELL.

Sorry to be such a downer - other than that, I am having a wonderful HM, believe it or not, but I have seen more toilets and plastic bags than anything else - no joke! Some days - I vaguely remember sites I saw in between puking...

Awwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You poor THING!

I am glad you have been able to enjoy your HM enough to say it's still wonderful... but I feel so badly for you!

I am 5 weeks pregnant and I am just starting to get morning sickness now. DH is going to have to start making his own coffee in the morning b/c it almost killed me this am.

I've also found that I have no apetite, at all. Which is really weird for me, but I didn't eat preakfast til 10:30 yesterday and lunch till 2:30. I know that will change, but it is just such a weird feeling.

At 5 wks, I still had no idea I was pregnant, or maybe just finding out, so I was fine...

But I have already lost about 10 pounds since I found out I was pregnant - all from morning sickness, which began at 6 weeks and really began getting bad at 7 weeks - I can not keep anything down. I lost 5 pounds before I went away, and last time I weighed myself several days ago at one of the hotels, I lost another 5 pounds... and my morning sickness has been worse since then - so I'm figuring I lost another pound or 2. Today one of the women on my tour told me that I have gotten so thin since the beginning of the tour, and my belly is completely flat now (before, I has a small bloated pooch)

If I werent pregnant, I'd be thrilled, but its disconcerting knowing I'm pregnant and getting thinner than I was....

I lost 15 lbs in my first trimester the second time around. I MORE than made up for it in the last trimester... and wound up having a 9lb 4oz baby who was actually almost 2 weeks early! Don't be too worried! Everything is going to be FANTASTIC!

I know some ladies who had morning sickness until giving birth.

I didnt have any morning sickness until about a week ago and I am now at 12 weeks. I am usually getting it at night, so go figure. Very annoying!!!!!!!

Yup, it's due to hormones, empty stomachs [which you tend to have in the morning] absolutely cannot handle this along with the strange taste in your mouth combine to make for an absolutely miserable time! Foods I LOVE I wouldn't even look at when I was pregnant...not because they made me sick, they just didn't taste good at all!

Other than that, it's a lovely time though!
