NWR....Working out....

NWR....Working out....

Hey ladies I need your help. I work in the city and get up at 5:30 every morning and get home after 7:00 pm every night. Does anybody know of any workouts that won't take an hour, but will still be effective? I hate getting up early, and by the time I get home, I'm beat. It stinks because getting home so late, I can either chose to eat or workout. There really is no time to cook, and then workout. I bought dumbbells in 2, 5, and 10 pounds. I just need a mini workout that I can do 3-4 times a week to get me going. Any suggestions?

i think it depends on what you want to accomplish during your workout.

leaner? just tone?

leaner - cardio. walk up and down the stairs (a lot). when it burns..just keep going. you can add one of the weights to make it more challenging.

Toning arms/legs :
Arm - Hammer Curls, Flies...you can do other exercises to work our triceps and biceps and chest.

Legs/Butt : Squats/Roman Chairs

Stomach : Sit Ups/Crunches

Good luck!!!

Hope this helps a little!

Re: NWR....Working out....

I have a 30 min pilates video that I do sometimes. It doesn't sound like much but you feel sore the next day. Would you try something like that?

Lunges, squats, push-ups, crunches, ball exercises...

I commute to the city and my schedule is almostt the same as yours, I think once you make yourself go to the gym you will want to go back. You will feel a change in energy and get addicted. Try going outside for a brisk walk, maybe get those ankles weights so you work harder.

That's exactly something I would try!
What is the name of the video? Do you know of any others where you can use the weights that has some cardio too?

I do Tae Bo Boot Camp, which has a 30-minute workout. It's great and intensive.

I know it's cheesy, but I have those 8min workout DVDs, and the ones for Arms & Abs really did help me when I used them everyday. The DVD was like $10 on Amazon.

Boot Camp is AWESOME! I recommend this too! Totally forgot about that!

Pilates Dvd: 10 Minute Solution: Rapid Results Pilates [DVD] (2006) Lara Hudson

Re: NWR....Working out....

This is awesome gals! Thanks so much! I really want to start working out again, and I know with the winter coming it's less and less likely I will get out to a gym. I used to always work out at home, and be in good shape. It just seems that when you hit 30.....ugh...everything SLOWS DOWN...lol...
Do any of you enhance your workout with chromium picolinate or L-carnitine?

I used GAIAM Intermediate Pilates Mat Workout with Ana Caban- total length is ~25 mins, yet it sculpts your whole body (add some walking/running when you can... and you'll reshape your body!!)

I have started going to the gym on the way home rather than getting home first -- that's where I would give up and just eat and go to bed. Now, I got to the gym for 45 minutes then home.

I bought a bunch of Lean Cuisines and I just pop one in the microwave for a few minutes and WA-LA!!

HTH!!

I really need to get back into the gym thing, but right now I hear the word GYM and I want to scream. How do you back into it? I used to go before work it was great, I had so much energy.

YES, its possible and if you do 30 mins everyday it will be effective...best thing to do and its free is use the 'exercsise on demand' channel...if you get home at that time from work after a long day you probably dont want to go to the gym and also the time it takes to go there and come back...This way you do it at home when you get a chance and it will only be 30 minutes...They have TONS of workouts that are very short.

I really recommend 'great abs' its a very short workout and if you do it everyday you will see results quickly. Some workouts are even 10 mins so if you do a few of them you'll be fine
