For those of you who work out with weights...does your weight go up before it comes back down again? I know that muscle weighs mor than fat, but I also know that the more muscle you have, the quicker you burn fat. My weight went down last week, my eating habits haven't changed, and I am gaining...how long is this going to happen for?

Re: NWR...working out with weights..
I have been working out with weights and my weight hasn't dropped significantly but you can see the difference... Muscle does way more than fat, so if you feel like you are loosing, than you are... I lost only 8 lbs in a whole month of dieting and exercising every damn day but I did drop from a size 8 to a size 4.... I think its from the weights, but now I am back up to a 6 because I cheated

As I understand it..muscle doesn't necessarily 'weight more than fat' it's the when you work out your muscles they get 'filled' with water and that's what adds on the 'weight' but they soon go back down and you'll see more weight loss. I'd say don't worry about the scale.. measure yourself.. you will see results in the tape measure before the scale!!!
Good Luck!!!
ETA: you also fluctuate 2-3 lbs per day..so maybe weight in less..not everyday.. I don't count two lbs either way b/c I know it's just the normal fluctuation.

When you are working out with weights its better to take your measurements instead of weighing yourself, since muscle weighs more than fat. This way you can actually see where you are losing inches.

Re: NWR...working out with weights..
ive been working out pretty hard since november.. Maybe I've lost 10 lbs only... but I've lost inches, and you can def see the muscle tone. If your clothes are fitting differently, but the scale isnt moving much, it is working...

Ive been working out with weights and although Im not seeing numbers dropping a lot off the scale I am seeing it in the way my clothes fit and in my body shape.

Re: NWR...working out with weights..
I've been working out hard core for a year and a half..in the beginning i gained weight..especially because I increased my meals and lifted weights..don't worry ...its normal to gain..muscle weighs more that fat..you should really measure loss by inches not pounds..

I did cardio almost every day (atleast 5 days a week) for about 45 mins for 8 weeks.. I used 2 lbs weights every other cardio workout for half the time.. FH says I am getting 'Arnold Arms' so I only use the weights 2 times a week now... I
also bought a exercise ball from Target and I was doing sit-ups, leg lifts, push ups and crunches on that too.. That was not easy!
Plus I was eating right, low fat or fat free cereal for breakfast, salads or rice and grilled chicken for lunch and Smartones for dinner... All together, I think I lost about 14-16 lbs but the first month was tuff for some reason.. The next 2 weeks, I really started to drop the pounds...
Now, I put back on, but once you get yourself into a certian workout schedule, its like showering, you just do it every day! It got easier for me too after about 2 weeks... I am a smoker, so running on the tredmil was a total biotch for me .. But like I said, after a little bit, it just got easier and easier everyday!
The exercise ball was definitly worth it though! Its 100% worth the investment!
Edit: I was using a tape measure to see how much I lost because I was loosing inches but not dropping weight in the beginning.. Try that too! Good Luck!!!!

Re: NWR...working out with weights..
I totally agree, Cardio is key. I've been taking a 1 hr free weight class 2x week at the gym, and the 2 other days i do cardio (treadmill and bike) for a total of about 40 mins. The difference in my arms is amazing (and everywhere else). i had very little muscle tone, and now you can see some real definition. I will take a pic to post.. lol

Are you weighing yourself directly after you work out??
