If you are looking for rentals... you should walk around the area where I work.

I say start at 50th street and walk the blocks all the way up to 63rd street between Sutton Place/York/1st Avenue to 3rd Avenue.

I see a lot of signs for 1-2-3 bedroom rentals available. But expect to pay TOP DOLLAR for these rentals. These are some of the most expensive apartments in the entire city.

Check out Bettina Equities. Their office is on 85th street between 2nd & 3rd. They have buildings all over the city. I actually lived in one 7 years ago- my first apartment in the city. The buildings are all modern, double-door locked with video montier systems but no doorman. I've been in a few of them and they are nice. From what I remember, they give out their new listings every Satruday morning from their office.

Another place I know of is that huge building on 33rd & 3rd Avenue. They have a management company in their building.

What neighborhood are you interested in living in? What are you looking for?

Thanks. I live on the upper east right now and we'd prefer to stay in the east 60s-80s. We need a 1BR with 24hr doorman & amenities and dont want to pay a fee.
DH is going to check out some places fr craigslist tonight...

I live in the 70's and work in the 60's. I walk to work and often see buildings with rental postings in them. I think there is one on 65th and 1st. I always see signs but I don't know if it's a coop or rental.

I know another building that always has a sign with rentals available. It's on 64th between 2nd & 3rd on the north side of the street. I think the management company is called Insignia. It always says 'no fee'.

Have you looked in any of the big doorman buildings- like on 86th between 2nd & 3rd near the Barnes & Noble? I know someone who lives there and likes it a lot! I bet if you just go into those big buildings, you can ask if there is a management company on site.

The NYC rental market has actually gone down since 911. The market is not that hot so you may be able to find a good deal with no fee.

Re: NYC Apt Search

okay, we're a bit far from the subway, but I love my building! 24 doorman, laundry in the building, elevator, etc. I know there are a number of apartments available in the building. We're allllll the way east on 78th street. bldg #555. The rental office is on 78th street between York and the river (north side). I am traveling work right now, so I don't have the rental office's number. If you go through them, there's no fee.

Good luck and feel free to FM me if you have any questions!

BTW we just got new windows!
