NYC Commuters

NYC Commuters

Ok I saw more cops today, both in NJ and NY, than I did during the RNC.

It actually made me feel a little uneasy.

Why? Its St. Patrick's day. Of course there will be more cops.

Its a complete city party... all over. Not just localized at MSG.

Yes, that I know. Just the fact that NJ cops were not only patrolling the train platform - but the trains, too - kind of threw me.... it wasn't like that for the PR day parade.

Spoken like a true-New Yorker! Only when we see an usually large amount of cops do we get nervous!
I love it!

Also, there are many problems with the trains...This could have attributed to the extra presence.

(You know, people go nutty when they can't get to work on time! )

Thats because the PR parade cannot hold a candle to St. Patricks.

I saw a TON of cops this moring at Penn Station too. I heard there were serious problems with the 7 train at Hunterspoint Ave. this morning AND it is St. Pat's day too - so I didn't think anything of it.

Well I do always notice a ton of cops on St. Patty's Day anyhow.. I didn't really notice any in Grand Central, but then again I leave through the 'north' exits so I don't necessarily have to walk through the main part of the station. And since I'm on the West side and always have to attempt to cross over 5th avenue to get to work, you cannot avoid cops!

But today I think it was escalated and might have been more train-related (i.e., problems with the trains, I know there have been major subway problems the past couple days)

there was a 'smoke situation' on the 7 track this morning. People were delayed for about an hour, but there was no smoke in the cars, nor were people evacuated. Just saw it on the news!

A train hit the 3rd rail on the 7 line between HP and Vernon-Jackson. PITA to commute this morning!

This is why I am glad I drive into the city every day.

'smoke situations' make me nervous, b/c that's the announcement they made on the subway on 9/11. There were delays b/c of a 'smoke situation' at Cortlandt Street. I wasn't on the train at that point, but my best friend was.

Oh wow I take the 7 train to work every morning and didn't have any problems coming in. It must have happened after I got into work. anyone know what time it happened?

They must have cleared up the problem quick cuz I commute between 8:30-8:50 in the morning and this I had no problems.
