There are a few romantic choices..but I cant think of anything fun and romantic. If it were fun, i dont think it would be very romantic, you know?

I would say either Layla or Chez Esaada.. love those places..

I hear what you mean...I am looking for a nice place, worth going to when in the city.

For romance, definitely try Candela in Union Square or One If By Land, Two If By Sea on Barrow St...

there are so many different kinds....

traditional romantic - I like One if By Land for that - it's a little stuffy, but it's traditional two by two, pianist, candlelit, pricey, fancy, etc.

I like Per Pernard - it's on Ludlow I think - it's a little French Bistro - I love the atmosphere in there - also very dark, French Country - champagne and great food. It's hip - not stuffy - relaxed and dark - fun place.

god it's been so long since I've been out....Mercer Kitchen is a really nice atmosphere and very trendy and great food. I think I remember feeling romantic in there! Raouls' (spelling?) -Great place for a couple to go - I know a lot of first dates there....

Fun place - Lucky Strike - also a little French place - same owner as Balthazar and Pastis. Neat atmosphere with the menu on the wall and wine out of water glasses. (which i hate but people seem to like!), Gramercy Tavern is great. Oh Guastavino's is really neat - beautiful place - very unique.

A lot of this depends on what you want to spend also. One if by Land for example is really quite expensive. Bubble Lounge is a nice place for a champagne toast for two before or after dinner - although on a weekend night it's a mob scene in there. Rialto is a nice place on Elizabeth Street....

I have heard great things about Chez Es Saada for a nice romanitc restaurant. I am not a big fan of One if By Land but it is suppose to be the most romantic restaurant in NYC - it was good but I thought it was overrated (been there twice).

I took DH to AZ for his b-day and it was good place...nice atmosphere. I love 11 Madison Park for the food...took DH for his b-day 2 years ago. It is a really nice place...but not really romantic but expensive! I also like Patria, Mesa Grill, so many so why can't I of any right now....DH is taking me to Lucy's Mexican Barbacue tonight - it was recommended to him by a coworker. It looked pretty good on Zagats - not sure about romantic though...it is the old Chicama.

I agree with you on that one Niecey.. I didn't like OIBL, at all.. I thought it was mediocre..

If you have money to burn mabye Jean George? Or if you dont mind going to Brooklyn, River Cafe is beautiful, delicious and romantic.

If you dont want to spend a fortune, i like Steak Frites..very yummy dishes in a nice atmosphere and excellent service.
