Bridal Atelier

There are lots of independant designers. Pick up the most recent copy of Weddings New York, all bridal shops and designers are listed in the back.

I am going to Kleinfelds at my mom's request- I am looking for a store less pricey

Wedding Atelier (I got my dress there and so did a friend) - on 5th around 17th street or so, on the second floor above the Juicy store.

I also walk past Pronovias every day to get to work and the store looks great (on 52nd between 5th and madison).

I talked with someone at Wedding Atelier a few weeks ago and she said they were still having their sample sales from June going on. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to fit dress shopping into my schedule yet but I'm hoping that sale is still going on through August. Also, a friend of mine got her dress there and her budget isn't huge so I'm guessing they have some reasonable selections (not cheap but maybe some around $2000?)

You should also try Designer Loft in the fashion district near Penn Station. They have a ton of different designers at all price ranges.

I considered the bridal loft and bridal garden- have people had good experiences at these places?

I got my dress at Pronovias and I couldn't be happier. The service blew Kleinfelds out of the water and their prices are much more reasonable. I recommend going there over any NY bridal salon and I went to a bunch

My budget was under 2000 at wedding atelier and they had lots of stuff for me. They also carry the expensive dresses, but they have more affordable lines there too.

I didn't have a very good time at the bigger placcess smaller shops seems to be more accomodating.

I very much recommend trying on dresses at
Mark Ingram Bridal Atelier

Then buying them online cheper!

The trying on experience was more pleasant there for me than anywhere else.

Re: NYC gown shopping

Go to Bridal Garden on 21st street.. they have gowns there that are either worn once (at 50%) off or samples from great designers at 30% or more off. . they have a great selection and great seamstress on site. . low maintenance spot - they don't hand you gowns or help you into them but all money goes to a charity for a childrens school in brooklyn. . I got a 4000 dress there for 1/2 off. but they had another one I almost bought for 500 . which was ALMOST as fabulous.. they are by appointment only but easy to get into . . I loved shopping there. .
