Comfort Inn and the Bedford Hotel, both in the midtown area.

Depends on what you consider cheap...
My friends have used priceline to get 4 star hotels in Manhattan for very reasonable prices. They would stay at Hilton type level hotels.

Anything under $200, but maybe more in the $150 range.

We have a hotel block for our guests at the Wellington Hotel on 57th Street....I wouldn't call it nice, but it is clean and the rates are $150/night.

My future in laws just stayed at the Holiday Inn on west 58th street and said they got an awesome price
