NYPD discounts at certain venues??

Please inform me. Is this true? Someone else on here mentioned it. I'm dying to know.

you mean at RHs or vendors??

that would be cool. we did find that with some vendors they were much nicer and accomodating when they found out my DH was NYPD

I highly doubt it. When we looked at RHs we asked about military discounts and none of them would do it

I think it depends on the venue. FH is not PD, but he is in the military. I asked for any sort of military discount EVERYWHERE and some places were very nice about it and others wouldn't do anything for us.

for venues--i doubt you'll find a discount. but with vendors---be sure to casually mention DH is NYPD--- a lot of our vendors really loved that he's a cop and i found them to be a little more 'real' with us about pricing and what's included--and even telling us 'you really don't need this' and such

We actually got a slight discount at our RH becuase FH is a volunteer fireman!!
It doesnt hurt to ask, right?

Not legally....but if you mention that FH is a cop, you never know....they could have a cop in the family and throw you a bone.

I mentioned it in the NWR posting about police exam notifications. My sister got the discount at Chateau Briand when she was married 5 yrs ago. Like I said, I don't know how much it was. I just remember her telling me that she was able to negotiate them down on price per head, and then she mentioned the NCPD to them and they gave her a bit more of a break. I am not looking at CB so I don't have more current information. Once my FH and I get to that stage, we are definitely going to ask. The other poster is right though, it probably isn't an 'official policy' type of thing. It's worth asking about IMHO

Our RH claimed to give us a discount. We did not evern ask. My mom happened to be wearing an NYPD fleece.

I do believe that most places do not have it as 'official policy' to give out discounts to couples who are PD, firemen, servicemen, etc...but since they have room to negotiate, they may cut you a break. So, it NEVER hurts to ask.

Thus far we have not gotten any discounts. Our BM has been semi-flexible in accomodating FH's schedule & our time line. A friend whos brother was NYPD received $10 cheaper off price per head (same date last year) than we are receiving and FH is NYPD. This couples pph was lower but their min was much higher. FH & I feel in the end it is all the same BM just specialize in play with #'s on paper.

we actually got our dj for 600 bucks because he was a retired nypd officer. pretty sweet deal but fh wasnt in nypd when we were booking rh.

The second we walked into Camelot limos Joe asked if my FH was on the job (everyone can tell because he looks like a cop)
He gave us a really good deal because a lot of their drivers are nypd or fd.
You should definately give them a try. I've heard gret things about them also.

Yes, Leonards was giving us a sick deal b/c FH is NYPD ( we chose CB b/c it was more of what we were looking for) !! You should mention it when you go vendor shopping.
