Today's question: Are you planning on making your own vows?
Answer: I really want to! But, probably will keep with something traditional. I kind of think making my own vows would personalize the wedding more. I know FH wants everything traditional though.

I'm really uncomfortable with public speaking, so I would prefer to do the cookie cutter vows for that reason alone. I think we'll end up making our own vows though because we're not really religious people so religious vows won't mean anything to us and we've been together for so long that the cookie cutter vows are things we've already promised to each other. FH has said he wants to write his own vows to me so we'll probably end up doing that, but I'm still terrified.

I don't know anything about religion, so if we stuck with traditional vows are they all religious?

We did not want to write our own, but our church will not even accept your own vows written because alot of times people don't promise anything in their vows. We are doing the traditional ones.

We will be doing a traditional Jewish ceremony, so we'll be doing those vows, but if the Rabbi allows it, I'd like us to say out own vows also. I've already told FH to start thinking about what he wants to say. I also said he better cry, or else. Lol

I am writing our ceremony, including my vows. Neither of us are comfortable in the spotlight, so we'll probably keep the vows short and sweet.
No way! We're sticking to the traditional vows. I'd have a panic attack if I had to recite something I wrote in front of everyone. I'll be nervous enough as it is.

I would like to, but I know FH wouldn't feel comfortable making up his own. He isn't very good with pitying his feelings into words lol 'Me Rich love you Jackie grunt' lol
So maybe we will work together to make up a simple twist on the traditional bow exchange that we will both say just so he doesn't feel too pressured.

Fh & I are traditionalists so we will absolutely *not* being doing our own vows. We want the traditional vows.

I'm toying with the idea. FH is an outstanding public speaker, and can speak off the cuff and still sound eloquent. I'd have to read off of index cards.
That being said, I'll probably chicken out and go with traditional

We're writing our own :) Our ceremony is going to be as personal as we can get it.

Definitely not. I hate being the center of attention as it is and writing my own vows for people to hear will likely cause me to throw up on the altar. We decided that we're gonna write each other letters to read the morning of the wedding so our personal feelings are shared with one another but not everyone else.

Both Adam and I would've loved to personalize the ceremony by writing our own vows. However, since we are getting married in a Catholic church, we have to do the traditional vows, because I don't think the Catholic church allows us to write our own vows.

Ours will be traditional. We toyed with the idea of writing our own, but are terrified of looking like idiots. What makes sense to us might not make sense o others. Our officiant is doing a very personal ceremony though, so that kinda makes up for it :)

From what I have seen at religious weddings, some of them contain specific religious wording. Non-denominational wedding vows traditionally steer clear of any religious wording.

we will definitely be saying the traditional vows BUT we are thinking of just reading or saying something to one another before that part :)

I'm not sure. I'd like to keep it simple & traditional, we aren't having a religious ceremony so there is wiggle room. But I don't really know... another thing to think about!
