Ok so this might be too much info and feel free to FM rather than post if youd like..
My last 2 paps have come back abnormal. HPV and all diseases come back negative but the pap comes back abnormal. Has this happened to anyone? I have to go for a colposcopy and am SO scared...anyone have any experience?

Re: OBGYN question ladies..
Hey this happened to me twice three years ago. They ran a bunch of tests and it turned out that the cysts were causing an infection inside the uterus. I took some pills and I was all better!
Did they check you for cysts?

Yes in 2006....3 tests in a row came back abnormal...I was really scared and I went and had that biopsy thing done...it wasn't as painful as I thought it would be, just uncomfortable and at the same time I was freaking out cause I was just scared.. Everything ended up being fine and my tests have come back normal ever since.
I know it is scary but try to relax and don't worry, I am sure it will end up being nothing. You can FM me if you have any questions.

Re: OBGYN question ladies..
yep! i just had it in june!
words of advice... take motrin before you go... your baby maker will sting for a couple of hours afterwards.
also, after you get it done it looks like youre peeing coffee grinds...that goes away in like 24 hours.
and thirdly..
the colpo came back fine, but i went for a follow up pap and it was still abnormal... you just might have abnormal paps with no explanation behind it.
consider it a character trait!

Shes right lauren. Some women do have abnormal paps. Have you spoken to your sister about it?

I've been there too Lauren...it was a bit uncomfortable but no biggie....now I just make sure to go for regular paps every six months to stay on top of things... With all the worries in the world...and me wanting so badly to have a family one day...this is one doctors visit I will NEVER miss... You will be fine...

Re: OBGYN question ladies..
I had the same happen.
A colposcopy only takes a few seconds longer than a regular pap. They tear a piece of your cervix (I think anyway) to send for further testing. It is a bit uncomfortable...sort of like a menstrual cramp....except your waiting for it!! Then they wash you out with some sort of liquid. The liquid may give you blackish discharge for a day or so....
Chances are it is NOTHING....abnormal paps can come back because you used a fragrance soap, had a slight yeast infection, were beginning/ending your period....or for no reason at all.
My abnormalities still haven't been justified!!!
Good luck!

Re: OBGYN question ladies..
I have had the same thing, it turns out that I had cysts that were affecting my pap, but I did have the colposcopy and everything was fine after my cysts broke up. It is a little uncomfortable, and I think one of the brides mentioned that your pee will be weird, and some fluid could leak after, this might be too much info as well but you might want to bring a pad to wear after the process is done. Good Luck and I hope this helps!

Re: OBGYN question ladies..
had the colpo after an abnormal Pap. ended up finding high grade abnormal cells which had to be removed via procedure afterwards. Now must have paps every 6 mos for 2 yrs to make sure all is well. after colpo, just know 'odor' may not be so pleasant and discharge so would def recommend wearing a pad.
if you need any addl info FM me.

Not me, but it did happen to my cousin, her pap came back abnormal but when she had further test done it was nothing. Sometimes they are just abnormal with no real reason. Dont worry just wait till you get the other tests done to see if theres really anything wrong. She was so scared when hers came back abnormal and come to find out shes okay. Youll be okay.

I have had this done a few times.....you can FM me with any questions. Its not that bad....a bit uncomfortable.
and my biopsy came back bad so I had to have the bad cells frozen off......that was not fun. But it was bearable......I can tell you all about it if you get to that point.
