Obligated invites...

Do a lot of u have people that u feel obligated to invite?

I really, really do not want to invite certain people from my job and a bunch of them assume they r going 2 b invited so I feel obligated to invite some of them. Certain people I really hate---but if u invite person A, then u have 2 invite person B.

Anyone else in similar situations? How r u handling it?

yes, same situation...but recently i wasn't invited to the wedding of someone in my circle of friends and i was very upset, so i will invite those who i must even if i don't want to (this person who didn't invite me will not be invited, obviously) just because i know how it feels

i feel your pain

unfortunately I have to invite my whole department plus their guests (total 18 people)... if I had it my way- it would be my boss, his wife and the two girls that I go to lunch with but it would create too many hard feelings & i do have to work here

FH's boss invited her whole department plus the new people and didnt invite him. It was pretty rude.

I dont want to invite anyone from my job but might have to. I feel that if I invite person A I have to invited person B, C, D, E, F, G, lolol. My mom will take care of this

Re: Obligated invites...

It's tough because I am the supervisor to 12 people. I planned to only invite my assistant. I also wanted to invite 1 of my friends, but she is married to 1 of theother people I supervise. He is a real jerk, and will tell people that he's invited and then I look bad because I didn't invite the others. I really don't like him but it would look cheap if I invited my friend and not her husband. I am having a small wedding----only 120 and really don't want all these people from work. The drama is beginning already!

As of right now I am not obligated to invite anyone from work and will only be inviting the people I like and am friends with.

I do have other obligations though. It is what it is and I am over it already.

FH felt snubbed cause everyone was invited BUT him. If youre only inviting 3 people of the 12, I dont think its so bad. If youre having a small wedding, then its beyond your control and Im sure they wont feel too bad about it. If you cant do it, then you cant. Dont make yourself crazy!

Re: Obligated invites...

I'm inviting a lot of people from my old job simply because I love them and they are my real friends outside of work. Ironically I've had a new job for over a year now and am not inviting one single person from this current job. Maybe don't invite any of them and say 'We didn't have enough room to invite coworkers.' My mom would say to blame it on your parents. Ha ha! 'My folks are only allowing us each a certain amount of people because they too have a large list of guests.'

Hope that doesn't sound rude.
