Obviously I missed the memo about Out of Town Bags...

...it took me a while to figure out what an OOT bag was... but when I did, I also realized that I hadn't even given a thought to this.

I've now searched high and low (okay okay, just on LIW) for what this concept is really about, and I think I've got it down but I have just one question...


WHO IS THE GENIUS THAT THOUGHT OF THIS IDEA?!

Lol. Not sure who thought of them. 'Out of town bags' was the first time I heard what they were officially called (via LIW). But whenever I've stayed at a hotel for wedding, even going hears back, there were always little goodie bags left by the bride and groom. I always look forward to them , haha

I too look forward to them and I didn't get one at the last wedding we went to that we stayed over at the hotel and I was annoyed lol

I knew about them from going to out of town weddings. It is a cute idea, helps make your guests feel welcome

It's a nice gesture. I really appreciated it when I went to a wedding in Florida and there was information on things to do in the area since we were there for a few days.

I was thinking about doing this... how much are you spending overall? Is there a charge for the hotel to put the bags in the room?

Ideally, I'd like to spend $10 or less on each bag. I'm not sure if the hotels charge to put the bags in the rooms, but that's a good question to ask! I'll definitely inquire about that and get back to you!

i only knew about them because when my cousin got married like over 15 years ago i remember all of the snacks and other goodies that were in the basket she had in our room. i'm planning on just doing a trip to bjs to fill up the bags with goodies for our guests.

I love this idea but my FH thinks I am crazy and taking on too much. Most of his family is coming in from out of town some are renting houses, others staying with family and a few staying in hotels. So my other question is do only people in hotels get them?
