Can anyone tell me how much I can expect to see? I thought Oct and Nov would be lower than the summer. Any chance I could get under a $100?

Re: Oct and Nov 2007 Reception Halls
November should be off season, and therefore a bit less... October is kind of funny, some halls consider it off season, some don't... my hall gave me an off season discount, but others made a big deal about how it's really busy and they book up fast for it. Or maybe they were just going for a high pressure sales and as much money as possible... definitely a possibility with these halls.
As for the price, you really need to just shop around. I don't think any of the places I looked at quoted me less than $100 pp, but I was looking for a Saturday night. If you're willing to be more flexible in terms of time of day and day of the week, you can definitely do it for less than $100pp.

I was told that the 'off' season doesn't start until January- we didn't get a special price because of December. Fall is also becoming very popular- good luck!

November is a tiny bit cheaper than Oct but nt a big difference. Unfortunalty we are paying nowhere near $100 per person. Originally it was Oct and we had to oush the date a month and it was like 5 dollars less per perosn.

Oct and Nov are not really considered 'off' months anymore because it is very popular. Most halls would give some type of discount in the Jan and Feb months.
Depending on the day and time, you can defiantly find a place for under $100.
Good luck

When I was looking, I found that a lot of places only count Jan-March as off peak. I did find though that some places lowered the prices slightly in November and slightly more in December.

Re: Oct and Nov 2007 Reception Halls
When I was researching, I found lower prices in late December, Jan, and Feb.
Sept, Oct, Nov are really growing popular for LI weddings, because we really do have such a beautiful autumn here.
What county are you looking in? I saw 14 halls, and researched nearly a dozen more. My goal was $100 INCLUDING TAX and GRAT.

Re: Oct and Nov 2007 Reception Halls
We were originally looking in Sept/Oct during that time and in some halls we found that if we moved it to Nov it went down maybe $10/pp but not everyone b/c only some halls consider it 'off season'. We ended up changing it to Nov for that reason b/c it did save some $$ at the end of it all.

November used to be an off peak month, but then it became more popular so now its right up there with October, November at most reception halls. Prices might still be less expensive than Sept. and Oct., but will still be in the 'peak range.' I've also noticed the prices have gone up since 2006.
I originally had Sept. 2006 booked for my wedding, the price with tax & grat. comes out to over 100 pp. We then had to postpone to May 2007, the price would have been higher, but our BM at our hall kept our price the same. If we had rebooked for September or October 2007 it would have cost an additional 15 pp.
Peak Months-May, June, September
Off peak Months-January, February, March

Re: Oct and Nov 2007 Reception Halls
I saw a mixture. Some places had different rates starting in October, and some started in November. Others only reduced rates in late November or for January - March. It all depends on the hall. The best thing to do is just call different halls and ask for the price ranges for different months, and even just ask when they have their lowest rates.
