Re: October Brides

Thanks! I now have to, unfortunately, order my dress. Couldn't get it wholesale and can't have it made and come out the same, so I have to go order it and pay full price (which still is much lower than the majority of people spend on their dresses). I'm going to NJ to do it so I can pay less sales tax on it.

Re: October Brides

Hey Jannshari
Who makes your dress?
PS- i think i am going to pick a florist by next wed. If things go well

Re: October Brides

Ronie, yup, it's this one...

I think it's so cute that you and Jim talk about wedding gowns together - especially mine! I think I'm going to order it tomorrow, but I'm going to NJ to do it so I can save on tax.

Oct.2004 - it's Oleg Cassini made exclusively for David's Bridal.

Good luck on the florist. I'm going to work on that soon.

Congrats. You will love dress shopping. But it can be tiring walking around with those dresses on. But the service i got was excellent in all the places i went. GOOD LUCK!

Re: October Brides

Hey Oct.2004Bride - can you tell me some of the places you shopped? I'm going to Bridal Reflections in Massapequa next week, but I really don't know where else to look after that.

Re: October Brides

JimmysBride..

I have to tell you.. i loved the dresses AT Bridal Reflections.. but they were snobby as heck to me (in my experience in Carle Place) and I hear they are very pricy.

I went around places.. ended up with Macy's in Manhasset..

I bought Demetrios.. which Bridal Reflections does not carry.

Re: October Brides

****Jimmysbride***

First i went to COmmack Wedding Center, then i went to Macy's Bridals, then a place (can't remember the name) in Rocky Point.

But my last place was Bridal Reflections. Some have said they received snobby service but i LOVED IT. I went to the Massapequa store and had Gloria as an attendant. She was awesome, honest and VERY heplful. I have to say she made things go so smoothly for me. Especially since i went in thinking i knew exactly what i wanted and came out with something different. Example: I wanted a white dress and tried on some but she insisted that i at least try on an off white just to see what it would look like. And she was sooo right. I have a fair complection and red hair. Wearing white made me look like a ghost. When i tried on the off white, it looked so much better. So i really appreciated all her help, she could have let me keep thinking white was the way to go for me but she was honest..but not pushy.

So i recommend BR and if you go ask for Gloria.

Only negative part was the price of the dress. I ended up spending more than i wanted but like my mom said...It was money well spent.

Good Luck and let me know how things go.

Re: October Brides

i found my dress in bridal reflections in carle place after i went to bridal reflections in massapequa. massapequa is more conveniant for mme and when i went the woman i worked with was wonderful. i really wanted to get my dress for the massapequa store. so we called up and had them bring the dress i wanted over and i bought it from massapequa. they weren't snobby, and they have actually been great because there is a problem with the designer right now doing the colors that i picked. ivory with eggshell lining. hopefully it will work out. they are trying to help figure it out.

editted to say...out of all the places i went they were the most helpful in both bridal reflections. they really took the time and explained why certain things would or would not look good.

other places i went were bridal suite hunting and pacthougue, paradies bridal, iman couture, macy's manhasset and lakegrove adirenne's

Re: October Brides

Maybe I just look to poor to shop at Bridal Reflections.

They are definately selective on who they treat well.

When I first went in they said they had no room and I had to make an appt. I thought that was fine and then they ignored me.

I took a seat and waited.. and waited... and waited... It was hot out so being an optimistic that I am I figured oh well, and started to flip through the magazines in AC, no biggie right? I wasn't upset at all.

There was a lady next to me who was prefect. You know, perfect hair, perfect suit, perfect nails, matching scarf & bag and beautiful jewerly. She looked over and asked about my ring. She must have been a mother of a bride. Nice lady. We chatted a bit.

The woman behind the counter looked over and noticed the two of us chatting and I guess she thought 'Oh crap, money' and I mean she literally RAN over. Im not kidding the only reason I noticed her was she physcially hit a coworker to get to me. The lady and I had been speaking about how they were ignoring me. Both of us kind of giggled as this woman desperately tried to get to our table. Immediately she's like Ms.. let us get you an appointment. I said 'sure when'.

Apparently that got her. She flustered around a bit turned quickly around and nearly hit a bride. Got a book and rushed back. The lady next to me was quiet and watchful. I set my appointment for the following day and they gave me a name of my consultant. Then she just stared at me. I hadn't made a move to get up, but I was comfy and wanted to finish flipping through the book. So .. I stared back.

Finally she left. I remember that lady next to me talking for a bit more. I know I went during an accessory trunk show of sorts. I wonder if the lady next to me was a supplier or something. who knows.. but they were snobby to me.

Later I went back with Jim to look at bridesmaid gowns. Just to see if they had the color red I was looking for. They physically stopped me from entering that part of the room. Said I needed a consultant.

Maybe I just look poor and not the type to shop there. I don't know WHY I bothered returning.

Re: October Brides

Sorry for you bad experience Xelindrya

But i don't look rich by any means. I do see how they would be annoyed that you didn't make an appt. I got that at 2 places i walked into too. I think they feel that if they are going to give you the attention that you and they want then you have to let them know in advance so they can block the time.

Or maybe Carle Place BR is snobby, i dunno. All i know is that they were wonderful to me and i am greatful. I guess all our experiences are different.
