October Girl!

October Girl!

My dress is in too, just came in this week, I can't wait to see it either. Let's see...I have to still do tuxs and finish favors and work on getting a ride from the hotel to Smithtown Landing for the bridal party for pictures. I ordered invites and I am waiting for them to come in.

How are you doing with your planning?

Re: October Girl!

I know! About 4 months! That is crazy, we have been engaged almost 2 years so I have had a lot of time to plan but it really did go fast. Where are you looking for shoes? I am kind of stumped on that because I saw a pair I like on-line but I would rather go to a store, I also need a headpiece, I have my veil already.

Re: October Girl!

I am actually going today to check out Craft Shoes in commack. they supposedly have a lot, but i've never been there before. I went to Bridal Shoe Boutique on old country road yesterday, but they had a very small selection, and the salesladies ignored me, so i left! Where did you get your veil? I have to decide on a headpiece soon too! So many decisions!!

Re: October Girl!

I was right next to Craft Shoes today for an eye doc appt! I heard the same thing about them and went there when my girlfriend got married for bridesmaid shoes. They were SO uncomfortable, now I am not sure it was the low heel (I am already 5'8) and I may not have been used to wearing something so low so I won't say they have crappy shoes (although the store is still decorated how I remember it when I was a child!) But they are worth checking out since they did have a ton. So, I am looking for something with no more than 1/2 inch heel and square toe.

I got my veil on-line at bridalpeople.com, they have a ton of veils on there and it was $100 including shipping (which was $5.95) and came wrapped beautifully. I am just hesitant ordering on-line for a headpiece because that is something I feel I need to see up close, don't you think? Someone told me Patchogue Fantasy Floral Land so I may check that out soon!

Let me know how you made out!

Re: October Girl!

yeah, i would definitely recommend seeing the headpiece in person and trying it on. some people are comfortable buying it online, but i am so picky and paranoid that i could never do it that way! i have to see how it looks on me.

i went to craft, and they did have a big selection of shoes, but ended up not getting anything (and apparently i pissed off the salesman because he works on commission!). but then i also went to sandy's shoes in massapequa (i'm getting my dress in bridal reflections in massapequa and went to see it today!) and they also had a nice selection (a lot of the same stuff as craft) and the sales people were very nice there. i'll probably go back there when i'm ready to buy.

i did decide on my headpiece today. i had four samples from the woman who is making mine, and tried them on with my dress and narrowed it down to the one i want.

i love getting things accomplished!!!

Re: October Girl!

I agree with you, I love getting things accomplished! Some weekends I get nothing done and then I feel so behind. My invitations should be in today (yahoo!).

Good for you with your headpieces, can I ask who designed them for you? Were they expensive?

Re: stacydz

are you going to aruba October 13th? I think I remember reading this. We will be there the 14-22 on our honeymoon, was wondering where you are staying, us at the divi all inclusive...

Re: stacydz

JPSGIRL...we are getting married the 13th and planning to leave for Aruba the 14th, we are staying at a time share (where I still don't know yet) and then adding a few days somewhere else, haven't booked it yet. Am I behind?

Where are you flying out of and on what airline? Have you been to Aruba before?

Re: October Girl!

Stacedz,
I am getting my headpiece and veil custom made. The woman works from her home in Wantagh. I think she charges $275 for everything, and will custom each headpiece to whatever you like. I can give you her info if you want it, just let me know.

Hope all is going well!

Re: October Girl!

we still have to look at wedding bands, decide whether or not we're using a limo, and i still have to buy those shoes! we're meeting with our rabbi in a couple of weeks, so i guess i'll know more then too! i have a hair and makeup trial coming up but i still have to make arrangements for all my bridesmaids, because i have so many and i think we're going to need more than one person to do all the work!

my list could probably go on and on...... i know theres more, i just cant think of it now! whats left for you?

Re: October Girl!

Hi again,

We have to finalize wedding bands, same thing for the limo (hotel will provide shuttle but we need something a little roomier for wedding party for pics before ceremony), tuxs, finish up favors, honeymoon stuff...just when the list seems like it is getting smaller, you realize there is always something else right????
