Odd guest request

Odd guest request

I had lunch with a friend and she said 'If my FH can't get off from work for your wedding, can I bring a friend as a guest instead?'

I said I would talk to my FH about it, because I'm not sure if we're inviting single guests with a guest. This is a pretty good friend, and I can't imagine her fiance can't get off from work 5 months in advance...

Anyone getting questions like this? What'd you say?

Yes!!! Does she know anyone else at the wedding?

I had a BM bring a friend instead of her b/f. Obviously she knew other people there so I don't know why she felt the need to bring a friend, but I gave her a plus one and didn't just invite her and her b/f so I couldn't really say anything. It always rubs me the wrong way though.

I'm so not down with that. If it isn't a backyard party, her significant other's name is on the invite, AND she knows people at the wedding- why would she even ask!??!

if you are inviting her with a guest, she can bring anyone she wants. you can't take away 'her guest' just because its not her fiance

One of my guests is also doing this - I have no problem with it... But maybe because she is a fellow 2011 bride

to her!

BUT... If you cant budget that one extra person into your budget - then she should understand.

Re: Odd guest request

i certainly understand what everyone is saying, but i think it depends on the situation.

my fiance is a police officer and can't get off for every single wedding we have this year, which is 7 weddings -- not including my own. i've gone to weddings alone b/c i knew everyone at the wedding. on the other hand, i've been invited to weddings where i know no one, so i think in that case, it's ok as long as the couple getting married is ok with it.

all of my guests are being invited to my wedding with guests and ultimately, i just want them to have a good time, so who am i to say who they bring as their date, especially if i invited them with a guest in the first place?

I am in the same boat now
but this guys DOESNT want to come to the wedding bc he doesnt want to wear a Dress shirt or pants.. he wants to wear JEANS!!!!!

So the Girlfriend (whihc is the one we are inviting, my Fh's coworker) says 'Since he doesnt want to come i will rbing another friend ok?'

I FLIPPED OUT TO FH!!! I SAID U EFFIN KIDDING ME?!!!!
I REFUSE TO PAY EXTRA FOR A GEUST WE DONG KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So we are still in teh argument of it...
Im telling U i havent even started the invitaion and im getting so much effin crap with this guest dilemma!

Personally, I'd say no. If its her fiance your not addressing to Miss smith and guest. Your most likely putting Miss Smith and Mr Jones. So it's a specific person.

My guest list is at it's max - I had to cut people I would like to be there. I don't want a random person there over people I actually know and love.
