Odd question about wedding cake & candles...

I'd like to surround my cake with rose petals and votives. Has anyone done/seen this? Will it melt the icing?

My Aunt did it at her wedding and the cake was fine-i'll see if I have any pics.

i have seen it - we are doing it too - and it shouldn't melt the icing....

I think it depends on what kind of icing you have, the fondont sp? is the hard shell one, i'm sure that wont melt, i want to do that as well and iv'e seen it done, i dont think its a problem though, it looks great !!!

I have seen it done and think it looks very pretty. Ask the person making your cake what types of icing you can use - but I don't see it being a problem since so many peopole do it.
