Love this thread. I'm meeting with a vendor for invitations this weekend and I want to look online. I want beautiful invitations but not at tons of $$.
I love this thread too! I wanted the same thing as you. I ordered a bunch of free samples from Invitations By Dawn, Ann's Bridal Bargains, and Exclusively Weddings. That way, I could see and feel the texture, weight of cardstock, raised printing, color of ink, etc. I found that Dawn & Ann's sent exactly the same design, and one had a much thinner cardstock than the other, same price too. So ordering samples first was a good thing!
Then, on the good advice of many LIW brides, I went to Party City and priced out the invitations I loved using their standard 30% off discount. I went back online to the other sites and priced them out that way. Exclusively Weddings worked out the most cost-effective for us. For the same invitation that I chose, with a '1st order / new customer' 10% off coupon that was sent with the samples, I was able to get the invitations I loved at the lowest price I could find. I haven't rec'd them yet, but their online customer service so far has been very fast and accomodating!
