I'm so glad I found this thread. I'm getting married in the beginning of August 2010. We chose the Milleridge because I have been there for other things and always had a great time.
Unfortunately, it seems like we are having a few bumps in the road for our reception planning...
First, we went for our tasting and walked out liking only half the food. The other half was edible (mostly) but certainly nothing I would say good things about or want to order again or serve at our wedding. I was so disappointed because the Milleridge has such a good reputation and i've eaten there so many times. Now I'm scared about all the food I didn't taste...how do I know it's good if so much of the food has already disappointed me?
Next, we had a family party so decided to order two cakes from the Mlleridge bakery so we could 'sample' the cake...again- yuck-o! We aren't really that picky of a group, but people really actually didn't even finish the slice of cake on their plate because it was so dry and stale.
Lastly, our banquet manager has been less than accommodating, and she seemed so nice at first.
We are so sad, and I don't want to be a party pooper on this board!
Has anyone had any similar (or different) experiences with the Milleridge? Please share your experience.
Thanks.

Truthfully our BM was very nice, I haven't really worked with her too much because our wedding is next year, so I can't tell you much about that. We haven't had a tasting yet, but I have been to a wedding there in January of 2010 and it was probably one of the best weddings I have been too. All everyone did was rave about how good the food was. The place was beautiful, and the food was delicious. Sorry that you are having a bad experience.

We left our tasting stuffed. Everything was delicious. The lamb chops were a little overdone, but the BM recognized that as she put them down and said they would be properly prepared for the wedding. I've had a great experience with them. And as far as the cake, I was told i could change my mind about what I want up until the day before, because they are made the morning of the wedding. So, I'm not really worried about staleness. I had their cake at the open house, and it was yummy. I think it was buttercream, though, which is what I am going for. Sorry you are having a less than pleasant experience. I would request another tasting.

Yes, same thing here. Our tasting was great. My whole family loved just about everything. The cottage has a different chef than the Inn so you cant go by what you get at the restaturant.
I know that I picked the milleridge because I was asking around to firneds of mine, which was the best wedding they every went to (food wise) and they all said Milleridge Cottage. So I checked it out.
I have never heard a bad thing about the food, you will be totally fine. But, I would ask for another tasting and taste different things. AS for cake, I think almost all wedding cake stinks, so get the viennese!!

I'm definitely doing it. I've called a few places
Lighting LED Wireless Vendor Price Per Unit NY Lounge Décor 65 World of Illumination 50 C&C 75 National Event Connection 65
I kinda wanted the wireless so it odesnt look messy. The last showcase I went to in the fall had the wireless and they looked awesome.

I know! Its such a hidden gem! The grounds aren't great but inside is beautiful and the food rocks!!!!
speaking of the grounds... are you guys going away to take outdoor pics? We were thinking about Westbury Gardens
we did our pictures at the planting fields which was 10 minutes from the cottage and a fraction of the price of the gardens

I'm doing the uplighting through my DJ (www.thentilnow.com). He said it'll be about $800 which is pretty cheap compared to some lighting companies I've checked out. He said that he has the same equipment that was used at the last Bridal Showcase in March.
