Re: ***Official African American Brides Thread***

Because one of the girls on the board stated that she didn't post her real wedding date because sometimes people can be malicious.

Hey Ladies,

? Is their a reason why some brides don't post their real wedding date on their avatar? If their is a reason please let me know. Is it a bad thing to post?

how do you know it's not their real wedding date

yeah, how do u know its not a real wedding date. How did u come up with that? Anyway my wedding date is real it might changed but it is real

I didn't mean it in a bad sense. One of the girls on the board noticed that someone's avatar had a date of 2012 and she asked her why is she having it so far off. Her response was that sometimes people are lurking and that's why she didn't post her real date. I never knew that. Because I posted my real date and I thought their was something to what she said. I thought it was a reason for alarm. That's all. I was in no way implying that people are not getting married. sorry for any confusion.

Okay ladies NEW TOPIC: Who is your florist and why did you select them? Can the 07' and 08' girls who have already booked their florist post pics of the centerpieces they are doing. Most of us 09' girls are going to start meeting with these types of vendors in late 07'.

You dont want me to answer! There is no better florist than John from Flower Michele. He works with all budgets and his work speaks for itself. Pics in my album.

I totally agree with you. John is the best. He was the first florist that I went to. Because of the great ideas I don't want to look any further.

So glad this thread is moving. I have a question, where are you girls getting hair and make-up trials at. I don't have a hair person that I go to, I could use some suggestions.

I was going to try a vendor on the board. I noticed that alot of people have used Oksana and Mia. Their hair/makeup looks really nice. Have you checked out some of the postings on hair/makeup trials.

ENJFT and others:

How far in advance did you start shopping for your wedding gown? What salons in Brooklyn, LI, SI, or the CITY do you recommend?

I got engaged in 05 and I had planned for an 07 wedding. But, things happen and dates change. Anyway, I had went to the bridal store last year and found my gown. Now, the only thing is that I have to keep an eye on it because as you know wedding gowns get discontinued. I was told by the bridal salon that I can order the gown and they will keep it till my date. I had went to Lestan's but I would never go back there. Their customer service is horrible. they have very nasty attitudes.

EX: I went on a Friday with my cousin and tried on about 8 gowns. i narrowed it down to 3.

I went back the next day with my mom, and the sales lady says to me, 'Weren't you just here yesterday, Why would you want to try the same dress on - No. 1 I have my mother with me
No. 2 - None of your business. After I had tried on 4 dresses, the sales lady asked, 'Well, how long will you keep trying on dresses, I said to her, I WILL STOP TRYING ON DRESSES WHEN JESUS COMES OFF THE CROSS, now leave me alone.

Bottom Line- No to lestans, yes to Rk Bridal, and Metropolitan Bridal in SI

I live near Lestan and will not go there. I went there for my prom dress and had to wait a long time. Yes it too small, unorganized, and dresses look dirty. I thought they were prejudice. I went there in 98 maybe they have changed but I will not be going there for anything and I mean anything

Their are still the same. Matter of fact they have gotten worse. By the time you finish with them someone will be leaving on a stretcher.

My colors are navy, silver and white. I'm having a winter wedding.

I'm having my dress made.

Anyone have any suggestions for affordable bridesmaid gifts?
