pardon in advance, but I'm the first of my family/friends to get married and I've never been in a wedding.
I just realized I don't know exactly how arriving for the ceremony is coordinated.
Our ceremony starts at 4:30 (but I think I may write 4 on the invites so people are early). What time should FH and the guys arrive? 3:30? What about me/my parents/the girls? same?
I don't want anyone to see me before I go in. What do I do, wait in the car for 30 minutes until everyone is inside? Have a BM on FH lookout? lol
That probably sounds so dumb, but I just realized I don't know how to coordinate this. lol

i think the way it goes is:

Re: Official Dumb Question of the day
Here is my opinion and no way should be taken as official advice.
I think if you are getting married in a church then your invitations should say the start time of the ceremony. I think most people assume that is when the ceremony starts. I think if you are getting married at the hall and they offer a hospitality station then your invite can call for that time and not the actual ceremony start time. Example, hospitality starts 6 and ceremony starts 630.
I think the men should arrive at 400. You should arrive at 4:15. It also depends on the setup of where you are getting married. You may need to wait in the limo or there may be a room available for you. The girls can be seen. Its just you that shouldn't. I would plan on starting your ceremony promptly at 4:30.
Unless...and this may be weird. I read once that to get people to punctual for a meeting, to write an odd time. So you could always set your invites at 4:20. Most people will be punctual when they see that. However, I don't know how comfortable I would feel with putting that on my invites personally. It was more for meetings and not formal invitations.

Your ceremony is at the RH? Are you taking pics before the ceremony or after?

Re: Official Dumb Question of the day
if the ceremony starts at 4:30 i would write 4:30... i agree with the other post about ppl coming early because the time on the invite is the start time of the invite. the guys normally get there half an hour before and 10-15 minutes before the girls and bride arrive. HTH

Re: Official Dumb Question of the day
No sorry my ceremony is at a church (no place for me to hide really unless I sit shut in an office on the side of the 'lobby' area (what is that called? vestibule?)
pictures after! Don't want FH to see me before!

Re: Official Dumb Question of the day
It's not a dumb question. The limo guys actually had the time thing down for us. They had my FH and the guys down for a half hour before the start time and then me for 15 minutes before I think...

Re: Official Dumb Question of the day
Here is the break down of me getting my wedding army to the church (5:30 start time): Limo Bus picks up groomsmen at 4:30, they arrive at the church at about 5, bus then goes to my house about five minutes away picks up us girls and we get the the church around 5:15, 5:20. I guess I will just wait in the bus with my dad until step-off time. Sounds good now, lets see..........

Re: Official Dumb Question of the day
My photographer actually explained it to me. Typically, the men arrive at the church about a 1/2 hour before. They are the ushers and will be showing the guests to their seats, etc.
You and your girls should arrive anywhere betwee 5-15 minutes before your ceremony begins so your girls can line up. You wait in the limo until the last possible minute, at which point, you walk inside the church doors are closed and it all begins.
