Official Jewish Brides Thread

I thought it would be a great idea to start a thread to share traditional and non-traditional ideas for the ceremony and reception.

I'll introduce myself first. My name is Pam and my fiance is Hillel. We havent set an exact date yet but are hoping to get married in 2010. We are going to go look out east at the vineyards soon, which is my dream venue.

I think this is a great idea! I was surprised there seem to be so few Jewish weddings being planned on this site. But maybe that's only the case in the '09 brides?

I'm having an interfaith cermeony but incorporating some jewish traditions only (chupah, break of the glass) he didn't want any catholic traditions. His mom is now giving me guilt on why I'm not having a priest and rabbi and we decided against it because neither of us are religious but more about tradition.

We are doing the same thing. I am jewish, he is not. ( Isrish Roman Catholic) We actually explained to his parents that we will be having a rabbi perform the ceremony who does interfaith weddings and git their approval. Our rabbi is great. He asked my FH if he wanted anything from his religion incorporated in plus which jewish traditions he wanted to particpate in. I think my FH is most excited about breaking the glass.

We're both jewish, but we dont want a COMPLETELY traditional wedding. We're doing some traditional things that we both love (breaking of the glass, walking down the aisle with both parents etc), but we want some untraditional things too and want the ceremony very personalized. We're using a rabbi on my side of the family, so that makes it more personal too.
