Officially Starting!

Officially Starting!

So I got engaged on March 10th, went on a trip to Cali with my fiance, and just got back Wednesday night...so we are finally starting to plan this weekend!

I don't even know where to begin. I think we are thinking of a June 2013 wedding. (It says March on my profile, but they made me pick a date when I registered. If I had my way, it'd be March, but FH wants to wait til he finishes school, so it'll probably be June).

My mom would probably be a good resource but my sister is getting married this September so I feel slightly pushed aside and may have to do a lot of the planning on my own. I'm just confused how to begin, where to start. I've dog-eared pages in magazines but should I start making appointments to look at halls? When is a good time to book for a June wedding?

I have a feeling I'm going to be slightly overwhelmed. Also, what is the best way to ask my bridesmaids to be in the bridal party? In person, call, text, give them a gift?

Any advice you can give is much appreciated!

Definitely start looking at things now. RHs and big vendors start filling up quickly.

I asked my 3 girls right away and then had a dinner date where they could all meet each other about 2 months later. I wrote them each a card with a poem in it and gave them a candle and a frame to put a pic in from the wedding.

Congrats and welcome!! First thing you should decide on a budget and a guest list. Then start looking online and in magazines for places and make appointments to go see them...doesn't matter if it's 5 or 25...see as many as you want!!
As for asking bridesmaids, I pretty much just said...'you're going to be a bridesmaid right'?...lol
Most importantly take a deep breath and enjoy this time with your FH!!!

I would start looking at RH's first IMHO (also know what you budget is, we already knew this before we were engaged). I started booking what I HAD to book first. You HAVE to have a RH, then I booked Photos and DJ all while dress shopping on and off inbetween there. Do you really think your mom is that overwhelmed that she wouldn't help? I pretty much knew where I wanted to book so we only looked at two. I went there first to see their price points and then FH came bc he's the better negotiator. Same with photos, DJ he was his friend so he came with me but we also visited others to see their price points. You don't necessarily need to bring people there unless you need their opinions. Mom, Dad and some BM's came with when I tried on dresses. That's where I knew I needed opinions!

I am getting married next March, we were engaged in Dec and I am only beginning to ask now. Last night I asked my niece and today I am asking my cousins, next week his sister and then my friends. I used etsy and bought them these cute cards with a poem and then a champagne flute that has a dress with my colors, their name and bridesmaid. A cute lil token..
