I know there has been some discussion about inviting officiants. I read that some girls are inviting him to stay for the cocktail hour. Here is my question: We are meeting with our officiant on Monday, should we invite him for the cocktail hour then? And how do I word it so that he knows it is only for the cocktail hour? Thanks for the help.

are you having a ceremony or getting arried in church? if it s a ceremony, say 'if you'd like to stay for the cocktail hour, and grab a bite to eat, you are welcome to'

I would only invite them if you were close to them. If you only met them for the wedding plans than I would think they don't expect to be invited. If you have room and would feel better inviting him/her, than invite him, he might decline anyway.
