I asked my uncle to be our officiant and he graciously accepted. He wants to go to Universal Life Church (online) to get ordained. Does anyone know if ministers from the Universal Life Church are accepted in the Town of Brookhaven? We are getting married in Port Jefferson.

Officiant- Can it be a family member?
I actually checked out their website yesterday. Their ordination is accepted everywhere in NYS. There's a special thing they have to do for NYC, but on LI you should be good. A family friend of mine is doing the same thing.

We have my FH cousin wedding in January and her brother is doing the same thing so he can marry them. I think its so nice!!

Our Officiant is a close friend of my FH which I think is so nice and makes it a little more personable.

FH did that for one of his best friends! I just LOVE when the officiant is a family member or close friend- makes the ceremony that much more special!!
