Would you consider $800 too much for an Officiant? FH and I met with a Rabbi last month and that was the fee they charge for a half hour ceremony.

wow! we're only paying $425 for our officiant (a Rabbi)

Wow. That's a lot of money. We're paying $275 for ours. He's a Rev. and is performing a civil ceromony. 800 bucks is a lot for only a half hour.

I know I thought it was really expensive....we Really liked the rabbi but I just think the price is to over the top! I am looking for a rabbi that will do a sort of interfaith ceremony. Can you recommend anyone?

yes!! We are using the catholic church, and thats $450 with the priest. We still have to pay it, even though my uncle is the priest.

Rabbis who do interfaith marriages are more expensive -- supply and demand.
Have you considered a cantor?

Cantor Harris Cohen is awesome. He is a vendor on this site. He is doing our interfaith ceremony. He is laid back and very funny.

If your budget allows for it, and its important to you, that really isn't that obscene. High yes, but I've seen higher.
My friend paid over $1k for her officiant but it was an amazing ceremony, very personalized. People were crying and laughing and crying again. Very involved and interactive ceremony. They also met with her about 4 times before the ceremony and just spent a lot of time counseling them. Worth it she says.
