Re: Officiant Questions

Well FH and I are getting married in a catholic church, but the only thing the priest did was get our contact information, told us a little about the ceremony, how long and whatnot, we are not having a mass, and took down our date. He told us when we can have the rehearsal and about pre-cana. I really don't remember anything else that we talked about.

I am Lutheran, but FH is catholic and honestly I don't know if Lutherans have to do pre-cana.

Not sure if I helped.

Re: Officiant Questions

We recently met with the pastor who will be officiating at our ceremony.

Here's what was discussed at our meeting:

-- confirmed the details of our ceremony (date, time, location)

-- asked about 'who's who' in the bridal party and our immediate families

-- gave us samples of programs and vows.

-- gave us an outline of the appropriate 'order' for our ceremony (i.e. prelude, precessional, greeting, prayer, unity candle, etc. etc.)

-- asked questions to get to know us: (i.e. why we want to marry each other - do we face any challenges, etc.)

-- offered great advice on marriage in general and questions that we had

-- discussed fee and gave us list of items to bring to him 2 days before our ceremony (i.e. marriage license, fee, program, reading (if applicable)

We were very pleased with him - he's a great speaker - captivating and warm.

I even sent him a thank-you note to let him know how much we enjoyed our meeting.

I hope this helps....good luck!
