So.... my fiance is Catholic, I am a Jewish by birth and practice Paganism. My parents want a Rabbi to perform the ceremony, to which I told them that if there is a Rabbi, then there has to be a Priest as well. They were ok with this, however... my FH and I are NOT religious! We want a more spiritual ceremony. Not to mention that there are some Pagan rituals that I want to incorporate into the ceremony. My parents are helping to fund the wedding, so I would LIKE to please them by having a Rabbi and a Priest there, but I don't want to be uncomfortable during my wedding ceremony. Any ideas? Any one know of a Rabbi/Priest that isn't going to blow a gasket over basically being a figure-head to appease the parents? I told my mom I would do some research, so here I am starting...

I'm Jewish and FH is Catholic so we are kinda in the same boat. Neither one of us are really religious and we have been looking into using a priest and a rabbi, there are a few that I found on this site...FM me if you want some info. Also, look into using a Unitarian minister...I know they take beliefs from Christianity, Judaism and Paganism.

Re: Officiant/Rabbi/Priest..... oh my!
the problem is my parents want a RABBI and won't be happy unless thats what we have. they won't be upset enough not to continue to help or anything drastic, but they will be VERY upset and heartbroken even. So anything except that really doesn't help too much. Specially since I have a friend whose mom is ordained non-denominal and she would be willing to do it for free. If we can't do the Rabbi/Priest thing like my parents want, then she will perform it for us, but I promised I would look into finding something that pleases everyone.

I'm in a really similar bind...
My parents are Lutheran, and were hoping for a church wedding. Yet, both FH and I are Pagan - though really more spiritual. So we want a spiritual wedding with a small pagan element or two.
Our question has been how to find an officiant who matches our beliefs and is family friendly.
I'd love to know if you find a good compromise

Re: Officiant/Rabbi/Priest..... oh my!
well, I will definitely keep you posted.... Of course my FH is all about keeping with our original idea of using my friend's mom who offered to do it as our gift.... saves us money instead of spending on 2 people to do the job that we wouldn't pay for at all. But my parents have asked for so little in comparison to what they COULD ask for, specially since they are giving a decent chunk of change towards this thing.
