I just got an invitation in the mail today from a old friend of mine. I speak to her once in a very rare blue moon on the comp. and have not seen yer in close to 4 years. We were so close in HS and a bit of our first year of college. No hard feelings or anythign we just grew apart. I kenw she was getting married but I just got an invite for her wedding in the mail. I wa snot planning on inviting her. I can not go to her's it is my cousin's sweet 16 but do I send her an invite?

I say no. I am not into you invited me so I have to invite you. If you have no connection with her anymore it is just weird that you were invited. I would just send a card and a small gift and not worry about it.

If it was me, I would now invite her. In the end, what is 2 extra people. Now if you are having a very small, intimate wedding than I wouldn't and would even explain that to her.

I agree. You do not have to invite someone to your wedding because they invited you to their wedding. It's simply just unrealistic that you can do that for every single person.

I wouldn't. I don't think anyone should feel obligated to invite anyone to their wedding. FH's cousin's, step daughter (geez say that 5 times, lol) got married yesterday. FH and I did not attend because he had to work and could not get off. After we received her invite I felt like maybe we should invite her but instead we stuck to our original plan, we were only inviting 1st cousins and she isn't a 1st cousin so that was that.

No, I would not either. You should not feel obligated. If she asks, explain you could not invite anyone but family, etc.

Don't feel like you have to invite her if you weren't planning on it to begin with. If you can't go to hers, just explain to her what your other plans are and you're sorry you have to miss it, thank her for the invite, and send her a card and a small gift. However if you think you'd like to get back in touch for the long term with her and become good friends again, it might be a good idea to invite her.

If you would like a closer relationship with her than maybe you should but if you are OK with the way things are. I wouldn't.

Re: Oh boy what do I do ?
oh yikes, isn't that the worst? I kinda fear an old friend of mine will find out about my wedding after the fact and realize I didn't invite her. I had the same situation- you just can't invite someone you barely speak to anymore. I would say decline her invite, and don't send her one. I know it's awkward, but it'll all blow over.

Re: Oh boy what do I do ?
if it was me, I probably would invite her.....but I'm nostalgic & sappy like that.....and the fact that you were really close in HS would probably be enough for me to invite her. But I can understand if you don't really talk anymore that it might be weird. Did either of you move or go away to college? Sometimes that can just make it harder to remain close friends. good luck with your decision!!! If you think you will feel bad about it later, then just invite her, even if you're not going to hers.
