Oh Goodness...

I just got off the phone with my caterer and she asked me a baffling question that I have yet to think of.

Our reception is immediately following the ceremony. My FH and I will be taking pictures after the wedding also.

Okay, so the question she asked was...What will the guests be doing while they are waiting on the newlyweds to arrive'? Well...we are have alcohol so I guess they can start drinking. Should I have some munchies for them to munch on before we get there? If so, what? They will probably be there 40-60 minutes before we are...is that way to long? Im freaking out!!

This is our menu...how does it sound?

pork
marinated chicken
sour croute
grilled potatoes
cooked carrots
baked beans
seven layer salad
macaroni salad
bread and butter
meatballs
chips

wedding cake, obviously!
fodu fountain (strawberry's, marshmallows, pretzels, pineapple and banana's)

to drink:
3 kegs
rum and coke
other un-thought-of mixed drinks
lemonade
iced tea
CANNED- Pepsi, diet Pepsi, cherry Pepsi, MD and sierra mist

Is there anything I should add or remove?

OH YEAH...and, I ordered my invites yesterday!! YAY!!

Re: Oh Goodness...

Your menu sounds yummy, can I come?

In regards to appetizers, maybe you could have various kinds of appetizers? Mini spring rolls, bruschetta, calamari, etc?

Re: Oh Goodness...

is this going to be buffet style or sit down dinner? YOu can take pics before the ceremony.. or have appetizers passed before the dinner and your arrival. Almost like a cocktail hr.

Re: Oh Goodness...

You should definately have some munchies, make it like a cocktail hour, so your guests arent just waiting around for you to show up, ask your caterer what they suggest.

Re: Oh Goodness...

I definitely think you should have appetizer, like little finger foods. . . maybe some satay skewers, vegetable and dip platter, cheese, fruit & crackers platter, stuff like that

Re: Oh Goodness...

2B1-I like you name (2B1)-great idea!

Anyway, thank you ladies...great ideas. It's a buffet style; do you think that matters? How does this sound: I will have them have the 'cocktail hour' table out with finger foods and when dinner begins they can take that table down. Whata you think??

Re: Oh Goodness...

that sounds good, your guests will be busy looking at you and your new husband arriving, and having your first dance and what not, they can transition then, should go very smoothly

Re: Oh Goodness...

muchies is a must, but I would maybe have more wedding/cocktail hour items like

baked clams
calamari
mussels
brussetta
crepes
quesadillas
swedish meatballs
onion bread
stuffed mushrooms/peppers
chicken rollotini
mixed veggies (not just carrots)
loin of pork is a good choice you have

Re: Oh Goodness...

i would definitely have some munchies out while the guests are waiting- you don't want them drinking alcohol without having anything in their stomachs
i would go wtih appetizer type things like bruschetta, pigs in a blanket, cheese and crackers, scallops with bacon, mozzarella sticks...
or, a big hit at our coctail hour was just a big table display of fresh fruits and veggies and some dips

maybe instead of having a table set up with the appetizers, you could have the catering people walk around with it on trays and offering it to people during that cocatail horu time- that way, theres just trays and no table for them to take down....
