I went to BRU and BBB and I was totally overwhelmed! Oh my there is so much stuff to choose from! Where did you begin? I'm going to start my regesitry on friday and could use some input from experienced moms. I have no clue when it comes to baby stuff. I'm also going to check on consumer reports for ratings, but any information from btdt moms will be really helpful.
So what do I need besides a crib?
Stroller carseat highchair bouncy seat thingy swing? play yard
I know I'm missing some of the essentials so please help.
Thanks

Re: Oh my I'm overwhelmed!
You dont' need a high chair yet. But register for it - maybe you'll get it and you can put it aside. I haven't gotten around to setting up my swing yet - I got a bouncy seat and haven't used it. Really Sophia is sleeping in the bassinet of her stroller when she naps, and in her cradle bassinet at night - when I resist taking her into the nursery bed with me after a long feeding....
You should register for some everyday use stuff - wipes, receiving blankets, diapers, safety kit, stuff like that. Monitor if you think you need it. My husband made me get a wipe warmer - I hate it but he insisted. The baby does seem to like it. I skipped the Diaper Genie thing - seems easier to put them in little plastic bags and toss them. Especially for Baby has little blue plastic baggies - scented - or I am just using my Food emporium plastic bags! If you are planning on breastfeeding you only need to have like 2 bottles in the house I would say in case you need to supplement - but it's not 100% necessary. If you are bottle feeding you'll need all that stuff but I am not so dont' know what is really needed for that.
Really all we do all day is change, use wipes, A&D ointment or Balmex, we use a lot of onesie undershirts, long sleeve and short sleeve, and the best ever GOWNS - highly suggest - little Carters gowns with the open bottom - so easy to change her when she has those on. We have a bunch of onesies with feet - terry cloth and cotton but Sophia is kind of small so she is swimming in those. Then we burp - need nothing for that! And sleep - she gets her pacifier then - up to you if you are going to do that . Then she gets wrapped in a receiving blanket and That's pretty much all we do! She is content to just be in anybody's arms.
I know it's overwhelming and you'll do tons of returning - just save gift receipts and you'll be fine. Make sure to get the carseat of course - with the base and an extra if you have two cars. I also got a rearview mirror thing so I can see her from my mirror as she is facing backwards. Oh you need a diaper bag. You'll be surprised how soon you need it. Like when the baby pees on the scale at her first pediatrician appointment and they are looking at you like you are an awful mom for not having diapers!
