OH NO BTJ's Jungle Pets caught on fire this morning

They are not sure if any of the animals survived How scary for them.

OK I know this is totally irrational my preggo hormones but this has been a reoccuring dream that I have had, that the house is on fire and Xena is stuck in here alone. It's so depressing.

4 animals that were outside survived. There were about 40 animals inside that did not.

Sunrise hwy is all backed up around that area (I live about 5 minutes away) and people are building a shrine outside on the street for the animals.

I tear up every time I drive by

Why would you say that they shouldn't rebuild it?

b/c they are a puppymill. one less pet shop to worry about. less dogs to die. its a cycle. dont get me wrong.. i feel so bad for the animals that dies.. of course i do.... they never got a chance at a good life but i dont feel bad for the owners or anything.

The animals outside were because they were outside animals - a turkey, a watchdog, and 2 other animals I can't remember.

I heard they had a memorial for all the animals by the site today. Wish I knew about it, I would have gone.

I passed it on the way to work- so sad it is just a pile of rubble, it's AWFUL. There is a fence up to hold the debris in and there are wreaths and flowers up to the animals. It is so sad.

awww... i wish i still lived around.. i would bring flowers... poor little guys. its so sad.

whats even more sad is that i bet the owners are more upset that they wont be selling all those animals for Christmas rather than the actual fire.

Seriously enough on that! The whole thing is a HUGE Tragedy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nothing more- NOTHING LESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That was a family run business. Their main business was not puppies or kittens it was fish and reptiles and amphibians.

While I agree with you that puppy mills are disgusting and horrible. A post on the tragedy is NOT the place for you to get on your soap box about this. (I can proudly say I have NEVER bought an animal. Mine were all strays or from last hope.)

Can we just mourn that tragedy that occurred without the speech?

Of course it is a tragedy.... I'm def not saying that its not.... or anything less than one...
BUT i feel bad for the ANIMALS only.. NOT the owners.....

my point is that if they didnt sell animals in the FIRST place none would be dead!

and i belive something like 25 dogs died.... 6 cats.... im sure a ton of fish and little critters...
they were a disgusting chithole.. everyone knows that.. yes they had cool things like tucans and aligators.. but it was a dirty place and even employees say how bad some things were.

I have to agree here. I went there a few weeks ago to get some chemicals for my fish tank & they have gorgeous and rare animals, but I was sick at the condition they were in. The dogs were filthy, and the birds looked like their cages hadn't been cleaned in a week.

I am really upset b/c according to my friend who was one of the fireman that responded to the scene, there was no fire detector/alarm & no sprinkler system. I was astonished at how inhumane and unthoughful that was.

I cried for hours when I heard & even went to the site at 6am to see if I could help with any of the aminals that might have been saved.

So I agree, my heart still bleeds for those poor animals, but I cannot feel bad for the people who so irresponsibly kept them.

I was thinking of writing to the town to get one built. And from what I heard from the FD, the vet hospital next door to where BTJ's used to be was trying quite hard to save alot of them....maybe they would help such a cause.

poor little guys...it still makes me so sad
