We looked at a place yesterday that had the entire hallway and living room in Stucco. I am not a fan and could not live with stucco...I hear its a lot of money to get rid of. Has anyone ever done this?

I have just heard that stucco is very hard to maintain. It needs to be cleaned a lot and requires maintanance. I personally like it but just dont want to devote the energy to cleaning it a lot. I am unsure how much it would be to remove.

You can sheetrock right over it.

It is a pain to remove, I know that my Mom had it in her old house and she removed it and it was a LOT of work

You can also skimcoat over it. Now a days there are a lot of techniques that can be used. My neighbor just sheetrocked right over his stucco and it came out great.

How was the stucco applied.... alot of times people take the inexpensive route and just use joint compound to give it that textured-stucco look. If that's the case, just break thru and re-sheetrock.
